Horticultural Gardener - United Kingdom - Landscaping Matters
Description
I am seeking a skilled trained Horticulturist to work with myself in a variety of private gardens and grounds on a full time basis. As a gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining and caring for various plants in a mixture of styled gardens so a broad knowledge on plants and how to care for them correctly is expected why myself and my clientele. A Horticultural qualification is essential (Minimum level 2+ RHS). This job is for someone who is passionate and enjoys doing jobs to the their best of their ability achieving the best results for the grounds/gardens year round.
Your duties will include:
– Perform groundskeeping tasks; lawn care, grass cuts, fertiliser application, lawn renovations inc. scarifying, top dressing, aerating etc.
– Maintain beds and borders to a very high standard; weeding, mulch application, fertilising when necessary.
– Plant, cultivate, and divide plants in gardens and landscapes at correct times of year.
– Prune and trim both ornamental & fruit trees, shrubs, and plants at preferred times of the year for the plants.
– Monitor plant health and identify any pests or diseases and provide solutions.
– Have a clear understanding on plant Identification and show good knowledge on Latin plant names.
– Use hand and power tools frequently and help maintain them in the workshop end of week.
– Operate larger machinery; tractors, ride on mower, chipper etc.
– Assist with the selection of plants and plans for developing spaces on larger projects.
Skills:
– Strong knowledge of Horticulture principles and practices which can be used to demonstrate methods to clients if and when asked.
– Experience with groundskeeping, lawn care and landscape maintenance.
– Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively on a daily basis.
– Basic Mechanical Knowledge to maintain the tools weekly.
– Knowledge of plant care techniques including pruning methods, fertiliser application, and identical replacement plants.
– Must have good time keeping skills and communication.
– Must have a minimum of a Level 2 RHS Horticultural Certification.
– Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
– Must have full clean drivers UK license.
– Must have the right to work in the UK.
Working hours are 7:30pm – 5pm Monday to Friday.
Probationary Period will be 6 months.
Overtime will be needed on occasions for larger projects.
