- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize the sourcing and procurement of pharmaceuticals, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical suppliers and manufacturers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing agreements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including departmental managers and clinicians, to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
- Lead the procurement team in conducting market research and analysis to identify new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate supplier performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage the inventory of pharmaceuticals at the new large-scale distribution centre in Chester, optimizing stock levels and minimizing wastage.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in pharmaceutical procurement to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Mentor and develop the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
- Master's degree in pharmacy or degree-level qualification in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. Level 3 Pharmacy Technicians with suitable experience will be considered.
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical procurement, with a minimum of 5 years in a leading role.
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain processes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings and favorable contract terms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Analytical mind-set with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
- Experience managing inventory and logistics in a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve goals and objectives.
