    UKAEA, the leading UK research institute in fusion energy, is looking for a dedicated Procurement Support Specialist to join our team. You will have a crucial role in providing top-notch procurement support for our R&D projects, ensuring we get the best value for our investments while maintaining high standards.

    Your responsibilities:

    • Offer expert advice and guidance on complex tenders and projects to drive successful procurement for our R&D work.
    • Act as a reliable advisor, assisting colleagues in delivering excellent procurement services.
    • Ensure UKAEA's compliance with EU regulations, UK directives, and relevant laws.
    • Negotiate with external firms to secure beneficial agreements.
    • Provide strategic commercial advice to senior management regarding different contract approaches.
    • Take part in problem-solving and decision-making processes to accurately define specification requirements.
    • Manage contracts throughout the entire process, from tendering to finalization, including bid assessment, value-for-money evaluations, negotiation, issue resolution, and contract completion.
    • Contribute to enhancing our procurement practices, policies, and terms & conditions continuously.
    • Promote adherence to UKAEA policies and procedures in all your undertakings.

    Your qualifications:

    • Working towards obtaining a MCIPS qualification (or similar procurement certification).
    • Demonstrated experience in public sector procurement with a good knowledge of OJEU regulations.
    • Strong technical knowledge in various procurement categories.
    • Experience and understanding of strategic procurement.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities both in writing and speaking.
    • A sharp business acumen with a focus on customer satisfaction.
    • Proven negotiation skills, including familiarity with NEC contract formats.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team and thrive in a cooperative setting.
