As a UK Tax Advisor in the Corporate Tax Department, you will report to the UK Tax Manager overseeing the UK tax functions.
Responsibilities will be varied and include the timely completion of UK corporation tax returns, managing compliance, and assisting with overseas tax filings.
Strong communication skills are essential due to frequent interactions with colleagues globally. You will need excellent project management skills and the flexibility to meet deadlines while accommodating non-tax colleagues' schedules. Strong self-motivation and independence are also key, along with staff management responsibilities for the Corporate Tax Assistant.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESUK corporate tax compliance (tax return and statutory reporting) and advisory activitiesPreparation of the corporation tax and deferred tax figures and disclosures for incorporation in the UK statutory accounts for the UK groupPreparation of the UK corporation tax returns and computations for group, to include double tax relief claims, rollover/holdover claims, group relief claims, patent box and research and development claims, corporate interest restriction calculations etc.
Preparation of the Overseas UK branch corporation tax returns and computations for the group/liaison with advisors assisting in the processWorking with the wider Group Tax, Finance and Commercial teams, advising on the structuring and implications of commercial transactions to include cross-border transactionsAdvise on UK tax implications of potential M&A activity and restructuringAssist with HMRC enquiries/audits as requiredWorking with external providers (as required) on the UK tax compliance and advisory mattersAssist with the UK VAT group maintenance, monthly VAT return process and act as a point of contact for VAT queriesAssist in managing all aspects of UK corporate tax administrationPreparation of estimates to support QIPs, calculating and arranging for re-allocation/repayment of QIP overpayments etcManaging the UK group's GPAWork with the UK Tax Manager to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and pro-actively seek out and develop solutions to mitigate risks and identify opportunitiesUS GAAP reportingPrepare and assist the wider Finance team with quarterly and annual US GAAP tax reporting requirementsPrepare ad-hoc correspondence with HMRCSupervise and develop more junior members of staffAssist the UK Tax Manager in any other activities relevant to this role as they arisePERSONAL PROFILEQualified CA/CTA (essential)Excellent technical knowledge within UK corporate tax (essential) Previous experience in working in a company with multi-jurisdictional concerns, or within an accountancy firm dealing with cross border issues (essential) UK VAT knowledge (desirable) Tax software knowledge - Onesource (desirable) To be considered you will be looking for your first step out of practice into industry, or you may already be in an industry tax role and be seeking a new challenge or a step up.
