    Description

    Position: Head of Grounds

    Location: Greenwich, London

    Salary: £50,000- £60,000per annum, dependent on experience

    Are you an experienced grounds management professional passionate about leading a team in maintaining pristine sporting facilities? We are seeking a dynamic Head of Grounds to oversee the maintenance of our client's state-of-the-art stadium and training ground. This pivotal role combines hands-on leadership with strategic management, aligned with our vision of innovation and inclusion.

    About the Role:

    As the Head of Grounds, you will be responsible for:

    • Operations Management: Directing the day-to-day activities of the Grounds Team to meet organisational requirements.
    • Strategic Leadership: Developing and regularly reviewing maintenance programmes to ensure top-quality pitch conditions.
    • Team Supervision: Leading a team of seven, including two Assistant Heads of Grounds and five Grounds people, plus additional staff on match days.
    • Budget Management: Handling the department's budget and planning for seasonal needs.
    • Compliance and Safety: Ensuring all operations comply with health and safety standards and managing the chemical application program to maximise pitch performance.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintaining close liaisons with management and coaching staff to fulfil ground requirements.

    Requirements:

    • Education and Certifications: NVQ Level 3/5 in Amenity Horticulture and Sports Turf Management, IOG National Diploma in Turf Culture, or BTEC/HND/HNC in Turf Science and Sports Grounds Management. Pesticide Application Certifications (PA1, PA2, PA6).
    • Experience: At least 3 years in a management role within a sports pitch environment, with demonstrated skills in grounds maintenance and construction, and proven track record in managing budgets and contractors.
    • Skills: Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills; proficient in basic IT; able to drive change and strategic initiatives; cooperative and collaborative teamwork approach; ability to respond quickly and make decisive actions as required.
