Curriculum Area Manager (A Levels & Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales)

    Parental cover up to 31 st July 2025 The Faculty of A Levels & Skills at Pembrokeshire College has an exciting opportunity for an inspiring, visionary, and innovative Curriculum Area Manager, to join the team managing all aspects of provision within the department of A Levels. At the commencement of the academic year 2024/25 there will be approximately 350 A Level learner's choosing from 26 A Level subjects and the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (ASBW). In addition, there will be approximately 30 vocational Level 3 Applied Science learners.
    Salary Details : Scale MS1- MS6 (£47,697 - £55,492 per annum) Contract Type: Salaried (Management) Fixed term up to 31st July parental cover Hours of work: Full time - 37 hours per week Holiday Entitlement: 37 days plus statutory bank holidays & College efficiency closures (per annum) Qualifications
    • It is essential to hold a degree in a relevant field and;
    • Hold a recognised teaching qualification (such as PGCE), or other appropriate professional teaching qualification.
    • It is highly desirable to hold an ILM or recognised management qualification.
    If not held, it is essential to undertake and achieve this within an agreed timescale.
    Experience
    • A proven track record of managing staff, learners, curriculum, resources and learning outcomes.
    • Experience of embedding effective pastoral support systems, including UCAS support, and effective learner tracking and monitoring systems.
    • Excellent understanding of quality assurance processes, financial planning, and resource management.
    • Experience of working across the Sector
    You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the proven ability to motivate staff and learners towards achieving agreed goals. You will also have an excellent understanding of current and emerging developments in A Level and Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales provision both across the County and throughout Wales.
    You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. This role requires excellent people management skills, including the ability to reflect, make sound but swift decisions and adapt to the ever-changing educational environment.
    This role will be undertaken on the College premises in Haverfordwest. The College has a flexible working policy but due to the nature of the role, home or remote working cannot be agreed.

    • Profiad o weithio ar draws y Sector
    Bydd gennych sgiliau rhyngbersonol a chyfathrebu rhagorol a'r gallu profedig i gymell staff a dysgwyr tuag at gyflawni nodau cytunedig. Bydd gennych hefyd ddealltwriaeth ragorol o ddatblygiadau cyfredol ac sy'n dod i'r amlwg yn narpariaeth Lefel A a Bagloriaeth Sgiliau Uwch Cymru ar draws y Sir a ledled Cymru.
