    Description

    Starting salary from £37,099 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £44,263 per annum.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate join the School of Computing to conduct studies on hybrid guidance system for cardiac interventional procedures.

    About the project

    Funded by EPSRC, as part of a project led by Dr YingLiang Ma, you will develop a robust and universal computer vision framework to segment key objects and create 3D models from real-time X-ray fluoroscopic images (video data).

    The project aims to develop a series of deep convolutional neural networks and visual transformers using probably the largest X-ray image database in UK for cardiac surgeries and the start-of-art GPU cluster. The project also involves the development of automatic MR segmentation algorithms for scar images.

    About you

    You will have a postgraduate level research degree, equivalent qualification or experience in computer sciences, mathematics or physics.

    You will also have experience of independent research, have publications in respected journals or conferences (e.g. MICCAI) and be able to work in a proactive and results driven manner in a high paced environment.

    You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills in python programming, mathematical skills and implementation of CNN or Transformers is essential.

    This full-time post is available from 1 July 2024 on a fixed term basis for 15 months.
