- Perform thorough inspections on plant machinery, including excavators, dumpers, telehandlers, and dozers, as per standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate the condition of machinery by conducting visual examinations, testing components, and inspecting documentation.
- Check the functionality and calibration of various equipment components, such as hydraulic systems , electrical systems, brakes, engines, and safety features.
- Identify and document any defects, damages, or potential issues with the machinery and send back to the workshop for repair. Ensuring at all times no machines are issued
- Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, including photographs and written reports.
- Coordinate with the workshop team to organise repairs, replacements, or maintenance required to bring machinery up to the required standard.
- Monitor and communicate the progress of repairs and maintenance to ensure timely availability of machinery for delivery.
- Conduct final checks on repaired or serviced machinery before release.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all inspections and maintenance activities.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the depot.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to machinery inspections.
- Proven experience as a plant inspector or similar role in the construction or plant hire industry.
- In-depth knowledge of plant machinery, systems, and components.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to plant machinery inspections and safety.
- Excellent attention to detail and observation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Sound decision-making and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Additional technical qualifications or certifications in mechanics, engineering, or similar fields would be advantageous.
- Previous experience in plant machinery inspections or maintenance roles preferred.
- Familiarity with Flannery Plant Hire machinery and equipment is a plus.

Flannery Plant Hire is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Plant Inspector to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to carry out end of line pre-delivery checks on plant machinery in our depots. As a Plant Inspector, you will ensure that all machinery is in excellent working condition and meets our high standards in terms of quality and safety. This critical function plays a key role in ensuring that our customers receive reliable machinery that complies with industry regulations.
