You will form part of a wider Public HealthConsultant team and have generic Public Health Consultant responsibilitiesagreed with the Director of Public Health, as well as leading on Sexual Healthand Health Protection as a specialist area.
We are looking for a candidate who possesses strong leadership skills together with a positive attitude who can work flexibly as part of a wider public health team. Whilst not essential, experience of working in a local authority setting, shaping and leading public health initiatives in a political environment is desirable.
Working to our Director of Public Health, you will have responsibility for the development, implementation and delivery of national, regional and local policies, developing inter-agency and interdisciplinary strategic plans and programmes to deliver key public health targets.
Main duties of the job
You will provide expert public health advice andleadership to support and inform an evidence-based approach for commissioningand developing high quality equitable services, across primary, secondary andsocial care, and across sectors including voluntary organisations.
As thepost holder, you will develop and utilise information and intelligence systemsto underpin public health action across disciplines and organisations, leadingcollation and interpretation of relevant data in addition to dealing withcomplex public health issues, advising the Health and Wellbeing Board andmaking recommendations regarding services, patient care and wider determinantsof health. These services will be aimed at keeping people well rather thanaddressing existing problems. They are universal services that work across allages and population groups but specifically target people with poorer healthoutcomes.
As amember of the Public Health Directorate Leadership Team you will contribute tothe development and operation of the Councils strategic direction and supporttraining programmes for Foundation Year Doctors/Specialty Registrars in PublicHealth, and to the training of practitioners and primary care professionalswithin the locality.
You will be included on the UnitedKingdom Public Health Register/General Medical Council (UKPHR/GMC) professionalregisters (or be within six months of registration).
