    In a nutshell

    As a Labour Manager for the Retail Labour and Operating Model Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering our labour and workforce management strategies, which includes allocation of labour hours to our stores and all timekeeping accountabilities. Your responsibilities will include leading a team of labour analysts, defining requirements for our labour & workforce systems, ensuring relevant governance processes are adhered to and completion of business projects in support of wider business outcomes. The sheer scale and complexity of our set-up means there's always something impactful to work on, which gives you a real sense of purpose and responsibility.

    You'll work cross functionally to bring together diverse stakeholders, building effective relationships to understand our business outcomes and the part you play in delivering them, often working to tight timescales and budgets. Additionally, you will monitor industry best practice, identify market trends and consider ways we can most effectively enhance colleague and customer experiences. We've made serious investment in our labour systems, and you'll need to draw on your previous line management, retail and analytical experience as well as your strong communication and networking skills to enable you to play a pivotal role in implementing our strategic plans, driving successful outcomes, and contributing to the ongoing development of our ways of working.

    What outcomes I need to deliver
    • Ensure sustainable change, working cross functionally to create value driven outcomes for stores, colleagues and central teams
    • Manage stakeholder engagement, developing clear communication strategies and ensuring corporate governance routines are managed successfully and with authentic credibility
    • Regularly review existing processes and data provision, ensuring integrity and accuracy in everything we do, implementing changes as required
    • Specify new requirements for systems, data or changes to ways of working which will ensure maximum return on investment and colleague/customer experience
    • Manage routines and tasks in the labour and workforce systems as appropriate to your role, responding to queries within agreed timescales
    • Identify gaps and complete educational activities to stakeholders and end users on key activities and data, providing innovative recommendations and actionable insight in response to business needs
    • Maintain standardisation and best practice for all labour processes and data usage, validating key information and business benefits as appropriate to your role
    • Operate in a value driven manner, ensuring support for those around you and your team, playing you part in leading team and business culture
    • Manage the allocation of resources, including investment in third party suppliers
    What I need to know and show
    • Robust understanding of store operations, preferably from time spent in a management role
    • Knowledge of workforce management and labour systems, tools and processes is essential (we use UKG Pro and Adapt)
    • Experience of managing operating and labour models, including but not limited to process mapping, labour measurement methodologies and productivity studies is desirable
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Power BI and exceptional Excel skills, experience of Micro Strategy & SQL is desirable, as is previous analyst experience
    • Understanding of governance methods to enable efficient workload delivery and change management
    • Experience of working cross functionally, building great working relationships at all levels with a willingness to challenge the status quo, looking to make continuous improvements
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create simple to understand messages suitable for wide ranging audiences
    • Knowledge of system management, including testing, and support models is desirable, with the requirement to support on business continuity issues as required
    • Ability to articulate and present complex work in a clear and succinct manner,
    • Taking ownership to create and analyse accurate data, presenting findings to highlight where improvements may be required to drive improved performance
    • A passion for delivering innovative transformation and automation through technology, always doing the right things for our colleagues, customers and business
    • Collaboration with external third parties to deliver projects including and not limited to labour model work measurements, defining new system requirements and understanding industry best practices
    • Project management experience is desired, bringing credibility and confidence when representing the work we do and ensuring deadlines, actions, risks and dependencies are under control
    • You'll be an inclusive, resilient, proactive leader with the ability to bring out the best in those around you, embedding and driving a culture of collaboration, transparency and transformative thinking
    • Ability to deliver a return on investment (ROI) for the investment we make in systems and resource, producing business cases and financials as required
    What decisions I can make including budget
    • Influence on the design of systems, tools and processes
    • Prioritisation of personal and team workload to meet business needs
    • Allocation of third-party consultancy budget to complete studies, measurements or other work (with approval from the Head of Labour)
    • Provision of data and insight to stakeholders and end users as required
    • Design of reporting tools and processes
