As part of the Local Government, Resilience and Communities group, the Communities and Integration Directorate sits at the heart of the Government�s aim to level up opportunities for everyone.
This new role is in our Communities Policy division responsible for our work on community empowerment, faith and belief, and parks and green spaces. You will be part of the community empowerment team which helps create strong, connected and empowered communities through policies which strengthen community spaces and relationships and provide opportunities for people to shape the decisions that matter to them.
We are looking for a new Policy Adviser with a keen interest in supporting communities to thrive to lead on stakeholder engagement. This is a great opportunity to grow and develop your skills in a fascinating policy area working with many passionate stakeholders and as part of an inclusive and caring team.
Job description
As a Policy and Engagement Officer you will:
� Spend time talking to stakeholders in the community sector, including through visits, to build trusting relationships and support the team to understand the issues facing communities.
� Use your project management skills to make sure we have strong processes in place to oversee our stakeholder engagement across the whole team.
� Lead on a range of tasks to support our engagement work across the whole team including: writing briefing notes; coordinating agendas and papers for meetings; capturing insights from stakeholders to inform our policy development.
� Support the team�s policy work including: drafting core-lines; supporting submissions to ministers and senior officials; undertaking desk-research to contribute to our policy development; drafting correspondence and dealing with parliamentary business.

You will:
� Have strong written communication skills with good attention to detail.
� Be organised, be able to manage your own varied workload and support others to keep on track with key milestones.
� Have good verbal communication skills
� Be able to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with different teams and sectors.
� Be able to pick up new policy ideas quickly and spot relevant connections and opportunities.

Benefits
Alongside your salary of �32,178, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities contributes �8,688 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
