    Locum Consultant in Anaesthesia - Dudley, United Kingdom - The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust

    Description

    This is a registrar level post for 12 months in the first instance, with the option to extend for a further 12 months. The successful individual will work primarily for Mr David Mathews, who has a clinical practice encompassing core Urology with a specialist workload of laparoscopic renal/upper tract surgery as well as flexible uretero-renoscopy in the management of stones and upper tract TCC. Mr Mathews is the departmental lead for Rezum steam ablation of the prostate and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to train in this procedure.

    The post includes on call on the registrar rota, 1 in 6 which attracts band 2A supplement.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful candidate will be supervised in the outpatient clinic, flexible cystoscopy and prostate biopsy clinics and operating theatres by Mr Mathews primarily. They will be exposed to high volume upper tract laparoscopy and endourology with excellent training opportunities.

    This post will also contribute to the da Vinci robotic surgical assistant rota, along with other registrars, when the robotic firm's registrar is away.

    The successful candidate will be expected to diligently deal with their patient clinic letters and investigation results.

    The post holder will be expected to diligently complete all the mandatory training modules. They will be expected to attend the weekly MDT meeting on a Thursday afternoon (when they are not in the operating theatres), present cases and fully engage with case discussions. The postholder will be expected to attend the monthly departmental audit meetings, contribute to the mortality & morbidity presentations and be involved in departmental clinical audit activities.

    Essential criteria

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • Medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • Knowledge, Training and Experience

  • A minimum of 12 months UK clinical experience in Urology
  • 12 months experience at Foundation level or equivalent
