    We have an exciting opportunity at our Liverpool Supply Point for a Food Safety Specialist to join our team.You would be responsible for providing support to site from a food safety perspective to actively drive and promote a Right First Time culture.

    You would lead the sites HACCP team as FSHCP team leader to drive continuous improvement and compliance to known standards externally and internally as well as regulatory requirements by ensuring it is robust and embedded in the site culture. You will also lead and deliver the sites HACCP and food safety awareness training. You will be the go-to person for food safety related topics and be the sites role model for promoting food safety and quality as well as driving those changes where relevant to your area. To build relationships both internally and externally that challenge and support quality and food safety related topics. Within this remit you would also be responsible for identifying any gaps on site that impact food safety in relation to processes, products, standards/regulations that will mitigate any food safety risks and lead such identifications. This includes leading any capex-based requirements for such projects.

    You will be responsible for ensuring products are evaluated appropriately from a food safety perspective during the development in projects or any notified changes and set up as per site cleaning matrix and work with relevant teams to drive improvement upon any known investigations. You will oversee the sites Allergen Management process and drive the identification for improvements including cleaning protocols and its validation to meet such requirements internally and externally.

    Key accountabilities:

    • Provide support where required with investigations and improvements in relation to food safety
    • Maintaining, reporting, and driving KPI's within function such as CCP/OPRP
    • Comply with sites Health and Safety Standards and drive culture including audits within area
    • Quality & Food Safety representative for various projects innovations, site processes and equipment introduction/changes to ensure quality requirements are addressed
    • Communicator of quality on in-house projects (e.g. new processes / systems) to ensure there is no impact on food safety and quality standards are met.
    • FSHCP Team leader and coordination of activities of the FSHCP team including the roadmap for each year
    • Responsible for the conformity of the flow diagrams and hazard analysis
    • Implementation and continuous improvement of Food Safety Hazard Control Plan
    • Maintain food safety management system including verification and compliance with the FSHCP procedure
    • Preventative Control Qualified Individual overseeing all changes that can have an impact on Food Safety
    • Perform risk assessments for new developments, change and impact on product
    • Responsible for product sequencing set up
    • Oversee Allergen Management, cleaning protocols and its validation
    • Be responsible for the review of any deviations impacting food safety such as temporary processes
    • Documented and reviewed HACCP system
    • Assist the Governance Manager in maintaining and improving the Quality System through audits and system reviews and ensure that effective corrective action is taken when necessary.
    • Conduct gap analysis within area against any changes to standards or regulations
    • Provide support during external audits such as ISO, FDA, EHO, corporate audits as well as the preparation stage. Continued accreditation of FSSC 22000
    • Assist in FSI (Corporate Standards) projects and ensure relevant systems/processes are compliant

    About you

    • Excellent analytical and technical capabilities
    • Accustomed with physical processing of food ingredients, especially dry powder
    • Excellent knowledge of Quality and Food Safety management systems
    • Good understanding of products, procedures, processes and equipment
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to contribute to cross functional project teams
    • A pro-active approach and positive attitude together with excellent team working skills
    • Proficient in the use of various software packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SAP, Guardian, MES, LIMS, Tekdan, Q-Pulse, Orsoft
    • Ability to assess all scenarios surrounding risk management and analysis
    • Open and willing to share ideas
    • Inquisitive and good networker and collaboration with other functions
    • Ability for decision making with an agile and pragmatic approach
    • Ability to manage complexity

    Critical experience required

    • Trained in HACCP Level 4
    • Experience in leading areas within external audits such as FSSC 22000, ISO accreditations and FDA
    • Trained in Level 3 Food Hygiene minimum, ideally Level 4
    • Educated to degree level/equivalent or industry experienced
    • Experience in leading site HACCP team and processes
    • Experience of working in a Quality environment essential
    • Experience of manufacturing essential
    • Strong Quality Management / Improvement background advantageous
    • Capable of working on multiple priorities and setting targets and timeframes
    • Adaptable enough to work in an environment that changes /challenges daily
    • Ability to work in a pressurised, heavily targeted and measured environment
