    Main duties of the job

    To plan, manage and develop the clinical pharmacy services across the Trust in order to promote the safe, timely and cost-effective use of medicines

    To set, implement and evaluate standards for clinical pharmacy practice Trust wide in accordance with departmental clinical strategy, using appropriate performance indicators and demonstrating a patient-focused approach.

    To support with the day-to-day management of the Pharmacy Department in the absence of the Deputy Chief Pharmacist

    To work closely with the lead ePMA pharmacist and other project leads in related digital programme projects in Pharmacy and Trust wide

    To support the Trust and ICBs Medicines Management agenda and promote the Medicines Optimisation Strategy

    To manage the relevant section leaders within pharmacy.

    To monitor drug expenditure for specific area, and to be the budget holder for day-to-day pharmacy service needs.

    To deputise for the Chief Pharmacist as and when necessary

    Person Specification

    Qualifications / Training

    Essential

  • Masters Degree MPharm or equivalent
  • Registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent (completed both year 1 & year 2)
  • Qualified and registered as a non-medical prescriber
  • Desirable

  • Leadership / management qualification
  • Member of the RPS
  • Member of the RPS faculty accredited at Advanced Stage II or Fellowship
  • Relevant financial management training
  • Previous Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of documentation of the planning, management and monitoring of in-depth/complex pharmaceutical care programmes
  • Experience writing medicine policies and guidelines and PGD development.
  • Experience of project leadership in highly complex projects and managing change, including across more than one team or organisational boundaries
  • Experience of working across the wider health economy, including partnership and multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a regional or national group to implement new guidance/change
  • Substantial post registration experience in hospital pharmacy across a range of specialities
  • Significant experience in managing a team and service
  • Experience in supporting the Chief Pharmacist on projects
