    Area Supervisor - London, United Kingdom - paretofm

    Description

    Salary : Up to30k DOE

    Location : London and South

    Contract Type :Permanent

    Hours: 40 hours perweek

    Reporting to:AreaSupervisor

    Overview:

    Providingsupport services on client sitesincluding:

    • Assisting theRegional and Account Managers with providing holiday and sicknesscover for smooth running of allocatedcontracts;
    • Site spot checks to monitor if staffon site have all necessary equipment uniform and consumables tocarry out their duties;
    • Report any deliveryissues or short comings of service delivery on site to Regional andAccount Manager;
    • Ensure planned maintenancetask are scheduled as per the client mandate including arrangingnecessary subcontractors as required;
    • Assist asrequired Regional and Account Manager carry out monthly audits oneach site and provide copies of the audit to the client and providefeedback to the operatives on site;
    • Assiststaff on site if they have any issues understanding any of thecontent in the site Bible folder;
    • Advise theRegional and Account Manager if the site Bible needs to be updatedincluding RAMS SSOW COSHH sheets etc;
    • Assistthe Regional and Account Manager to monitor Health and Safety onsite including delivery of toolbox talks onlinetraining;
    • Report any accidents incidents ornear misses as per the Paretoprocedures;
    • Advising Regional Account Managerof any portable appliance testing asrequired;

    Knowledge andExperience:Vocational andTechnical Skills

    Awareness / knowledge of Health& Safety issues

    Good IT skills includingMicrosoftOffice

    Desirable

    Experience

    Thejob holder will be required to have experience within soft servicesideally cleaning including specialist cleaning. Preferably previousaccount management.

    InterpersonalSkills

    When dealing with clientpersonnel and at all levels the job holder must use tact anddiplomacy in order to get cooperation from client personnel andwhen dealing with visitors.

    Responsibility

    HumanResource Management

    The job holder isresponsible for checking on the quality of their work andsupervising less experienced staff when required.

    Physical ResourceManagement

    • The job holderis responsible for the care of tools complete asappropriate whilst in their use whether the propertybelongs to the client or Pareto.
    • Confidentiality isrequired on all matters that are attaining to Pareto and theclient.
    • The quality of thepost holders work can have an indirect effect on animal care e.g.quality of work within animal enclosures.

    Communication

    Communication is oral / written andmostly internal with the site manager and clients staff.Communication is generally straight forward. From time to time thejob holder will liaise with contractors working inside of theclients sites or areas of responsibility and at times withvisitors.

    Liaison

    Theclients image can be affected by the job holders dealings withvisitors and the media. While in dealings with the clientspersonnel at all levels the clients costs and operationalefficiency are influenced the post holder also has a requirement toliaise with inspectors and governing bodies that may come to theclients sites or areas of responsibility.

    MentalDemands

    Judgement andDecision Making

    Work is allocated tothe job holder who in most cases decides how to tackle it sometimeswith the help of specifications. There is consultation within theteam regarding the work plan. From time to time the job holder isrequested to change work priorities. Routine decisions are madedaily based either on personal experience own initiative orfollowing discussions with the clients appointed contact.

    Original thought and problemsolving

    Many tasks involve originalthought. Common problems arising are usually technical in natureand are solved independently using past experience and knowledgeand sometimes there is a need for design. On occasion help will besought from the Site Manager or Clients appointed contact regardingunusual problems.

    Concentration

    Thereis a need to be alert at all times but a particularly high level ofconcentration is required when working on machinery and specificdetail needs to be paid to Health & Safety guidelines.

    The clients unique environment requires extraconcentration and due diligence to Health and Safety and lockingprocedures especially with regard to working in or around anyanimal enclosure. On occasion during an emergency a lone workingenvironment may exist and due diligence to lone working proceduresmust be always adhered to.

    Flexibility

    Taskscover a wide range of activities. The number of interruptions dailyis very variable. These are always from internal sources usuallythe Site Manager or other Pareto staff. Depending on priorities thejob holder will either respond immediately or deal with the matterat a later date. The post holder may be asked to carry out tasksoutside of their general duties.

    WorkingConditions

    The job holder isrequired to work in a variety of conditions these may be outside inthe presence of animals and adverse weather conditions the postholder is also exposed to dirt (in animal houses and drains)personal risk (especially with machines) noise (eg machinery) andpollution(eg.
