Private Capital Reporter - London, United Kingdom - Financial Times

    Default job background
    Description
    The role

The Financial Times has an opening for a new private capital reporter based in London.

The successful candidate will be able to get to grips quickly with a complicated, diverse sector of the finance industry, while showing an ability to build a wide array of sources in and around some of the world's most secretive companies.

You will be expected to deliver high-impact scoops and in-depth reporting about the inner workings of the industry, its most powerful players and their dealmaking. This is a key time to take on the beat, as an industry that has become a major force in global finance faces up to fundamentally different conditions.

You will work closely with our team of reporters globally covering corporate finance and dealmaking including Robert Smith, Ortenca Aliaj, Ivan Levingston, Antoine Gara, Amelia Pollard, and Eric Platt as well as our broader financial services and markets teams.

Contributing regularly to the Due Diligence newsletter as well as other initiatives such as conferences is essential.

Is this the role for you?

This position requires you to be comfortable with these essential skills:
    • A proven scoop-getter who can find off-diary stories with regularity
    • A clean writer who can navigate detail across business and finance to deliver compelling stories
    • Ability to develop and maintain a network of contacts
    • Active and frequent networking is an essential part of this position
    • Demonstrable knowledge of basic economic and financial terms
    • Interest in working across teams to tackle major running stories and trends
    • Report across all digital platforms and engage with our audience
    • Occasional weekend shifts are required as part of the team rota
Please submit your application by the end of the day, Wednesday 8th May 2024.
