Description
The roleThe Financial Times has an opening for a new private capital reporter based in London.
The successful candidate will be able to get to grips quickly with a complicated, diverse sector of the finance industry, while showing an ability to build a wide array of sources in and around some of the world's most secretive companies.
You will be expected to deliver high-impact scoops and in-depth reporting about the inner workings of the industry, its most powerful players and their dealmaking. This is a key time to take on the beat, as an industry that has become a major force in global finance faces up to fundamentally different conditions.
You will work closely with our team of reporters globally covering corporate finance and dealmaking including Robert Smith, Ortenca Aliaj, Ivan Levingston, Antoine Gara, Amelia Pollard, and Eric Platt as well as our broader financial services and markets teams.
Contributing regularly to the Due Diligence newsletter as well as other initiatives such as conferences is essential.

How we work
Our hybrid setup means staff are expected to come into the office 3 days a week.
Our office is located across the street from St. Paul's Cathedral and is easily accessible from all corners of London. There are the main train terminals such as Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Blackfriars, City Thameslink or Waterloo all situated within walking distance or there are several tube stations within a few mins walk such as Mansion House (District or Circle line), St. Paul's (Central line), Bank (Central or Waterloo & City line) or Barbican (Central, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan lines).
