    Job Description:

    Job Title: Finance Manager

    Company: Imperial College Healthcare

    Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the Finance Manager plays a vital role within the divisional business partnering team. This position involves supporting a portfolio of directorates with assistance from a Band 7 Deputy Finance Manager and a Band 5/6 Management Accountant.

    The Finance Manager serves as the primary contact for the directorates, handling business planning, month-end reporting/forecasting, productivity and efficiency initiatives, and providing financial advice for proposed investments. This role collaborates closely with directorate leadership teams and holds a senior position within the finance function, offering support and leadership to colleagues.

    The successful candidate will possess experience in financial management, strong technical skills, and excellent communication abilities. Since this role involves managing staff, experience in staff development is essential.

    This role offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity within a supportive finance team. The finance department at Imperial College Healthcare encourages hybrid working and supports flexible working arrangements.


    Main Duties of the Job:

    • Provide high-quality financial management services to a portfolio of directorates
    • Support the setting of annual budgets in accordance with Trust guidelines
    • Ensure timely month-end and year-end processes
    • Collaborate with General Managers to produce income and expenditure forecasts
    • Support productivity and efficiency plans
    • Create informative directorate reports and presentations
    • Lead financial discussions for directorates
    • Provide cover and support as needed
    • Conduct budget holder training
    • Manage staff and support their development
    • Contribute to benchmarking and financial projects

    Person Specification:

    Education/Qualifications:

    • Essential
      • CCAB qualified accountant or equivalent
      • Degree-level qualification
    • Desirable
      • Evidence of CPD

    Experience:

    • Essential
      • Experience in NHS or similar organizations
      • Competency in financial data analysis and computerized accounting systems
      • Ability to manage people and stakeholders effectively

      • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

      • Essential
        • Understanding of confidentiality and information governance
        • Knowledge of NHS finance policies and legislation
        • Proficiency in financial systems and procedures
