    Description

    Job Title: Operational Laboratory Manager at UHB Pathology

    Are you an experienced and forward-thinking 8a biomedical scientist looking for a new challenge? UHB Pathology is searching for a talented individual to join their management team in the Cellular Pathology Laboratory. As part of this dynamic team, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of pathology services across multiple hospital sites.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Drive improvements in operational delivery
    • Oversee method and equipment evaluation
    • Organise implementation of new techniques
    • Keep up to date with laboratory practices
    • Contribute to departmental reviews and meetings
    • Provide direction and advice to staff
    • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
    • Manage finances, resources, and staff efficiently
    • Lead staff management, including rotas and training

    Person Specification:

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent
    • MSc Biomedical Science or equivalent
    • Continuing professional development in line with guidelines
    • State registration with HCPC

    Desirable

    • Management qualification
    • Awareness of current Pathology issues

    Experience

    Essential

    • Demonstrated expertise in Biomedical Science
    • Management experience
    • Knowledge of laboratory practices and standards
    • Experience in compliance and staff training
    • Proficiency in IT tools

    Desirable

    • Understanding of lab accreditations
    • HR and personnel experience
    • Knowledge of Trust laboratory systems
