- Act as a point of contact for advice and expertise on training and education.
- Support the development of education and training by planning and facilitating relevant training to all staff including students on placement.

- In conjunction with Unit Managers, Matrons, Speciality Business Manager and Learning and Development Finance Team monitor educational course requirements, facilitate all necessary planning and negotiation to provide cost-effective and quality training delivery.

- To develop strategies in conjunction with the senior nurses, matrons to ensure that staff within the clinical areas attend:
- To ensure that all staff within the teams receive locally delivered infection control training as appropriate to their clinical area in line with national and Trust wide guidance, policy and strategy
- To identify the equipment for which training needs to be provided in line with Medical Devices Agency guidelines and the members of staff requiring this training. To ensure that the training identified is provided in a timely manner and an up to date data base is maintained
- Identify learning needs of individual members of staff arising from patient safety issues, poor performance, complaints and patient experience and supportively deliver the training required
- To record locally delivered training and development activity by keeping an up to date accurate data base
- To work with the Trust Education team to develop training programmes

Job summary
An exciting Band 6 position has arisen for a highly motivated and forward thinking NMC registrant to join the the Paediatric Practice Education team at ELHT
You will work within the Practice Education team to support the learning and development needs of the 0-19 team at ELHT, To enhance the acquisition of new skills and knowledge and manage their mandatory training requirements.
Training is a high priority to us and you will make sure staff feel valued, confident and competent . You will ensure patient safety is optimised by working with the MDT to provide robust up to date evidence based training.
You will provide assurancesto the nursing management team that training compliance is exemplary , keeping up to date records of training and providing accurate reports.
You will work with local and national initiatives to ensure Paediatrics at ELHT remain at the forefront of innovative research,practice and development.

Identify training requirementsrelevant to Paediatrics from local audits, national policy, evidence-based practice/guidelines, research .
Share locally identified development needs with other Practice Educators to identify strategic issues in respect of learning and report these through to appropriate groups. Network with other Paediatric Practice educators locally and regionally to share good practice and supervision. Support the ICB with any service development.
Support the development of Trust wide processes to identify training needs which will include delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning in practice
Contribute to the development of others enabling them to apply current knowledge in practice and to develop their clinical skills
Actively promote the workplace as a learning environment encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from examples of good practice
Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
Comply fully with the Trust Dress Code policy and ensure nursing team comply .

Facilitate Learning in Practice
Undertake work activities, which are consistent with legislation, policies and performance
To maintain an up to date register of mentors for the clinical area; ensuring mentors attend updates as required by liaising with the senior nurses and matrons
Ensure all areas provide a safe and effective learning environment for all learners
To support development of staff within the 0-19 team by the direct provision of supervision or coaching and mentoring , including support with Revalidation for registered nurses
Support staff to develop the required clinical skills to support parents, carers and teachers through teaching and assessment of competencies. Work with the relevant specialist nursing teams to ensure all teaching is up to date and evidence based
Develop strategies to ensure the timely release of staff to attend training
Governance
Annual mandatory training in line with Trust policy
Resuscitation training on an annual basis
Competency development and assessment within the Trust policies/frameworks and national standards
