    About the Company:

    GPAS Ltd is at the forefront of revolutionizing the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, utilizing cutting-edge Whole Genome Sequencing-based metagenomic and individual pathogen clinical tools to develop a global pathogen metagenomics system that can identify Pathogen X, giving early warnings of disease outbreaks.

    Job Title: Head of Data Engineering

    The Role:

    Join a top-tier team working on innovative software as a service (SaaS) tool in the pathogen analysis field. As the Head of Data Engineering, you will lead our data strategy and infrastructure, driving technology for global health impact.

    There are two key strategic focuses in this role:

    • Lead the infrastructure strategy and integration of pipelines to support the analysis platform.
    • Oversee the development of a collaborative research platform in a secure environment.

    Reporting directly to the CTO initially, you'll be instrumental in building a scalable data infrastructure to support the company's growth. Your role will involve collaborating with the University of Oxford, working across different technologies, and contributing to the team's expansion.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute technical roadmaps.
    • Design and implement data storage architectures.
    • Integrate new bioinformatics pipelines.
    • Drive efficiency in data storage and processing.
    • Manage and mentor a team of data engineers.
    • Ensure compliance with data regulations and best practices.

    Requirements:

    • Extensive experience in data architecture, particularly in data warehousing.
    • Expertise in data regulations and management.
    • Experience leading teams and working with strategic partners.
    • Knowledge of tech stack including Python3, SQL, Linux, Terraform, Kubernetes, and cloud providers.

    Nice to haves:

    • ETL/ELT pipelines design.
    • Oracle Cloud experience.
    • Health or genomic data experience.
    • Knowledge of trusted research environments.
    • ISO and GDPR familiarity.
    • Experience in SaaS products.
