    Description

    Job Overview

    The post holder will work as a Foundation Year 3 doctor within the Emergency Department. The successful applicant will join a committed team in a forward-thinking Emergency Department that offers a wide range of experience in all aspects of Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine, suitable for those planning a career in hospital-based specialties or General Practice. The post holder will receive regular departmental and simulation-based teaching, be assigned an educational supervisor, and have the opportunity to participate in departmental audits. Staff wellness is valued, with successful initiatives to promote and facilitate staff breaks.

    We are looking for doctors with at least 4 months of experience working in an ED at FY2 level or above, or in a dedicated acute medical ward. Individuals with experience in other specialty training programs who show familiarity with the demands of working in Emergency Medicine, especially patient flow and government targets, will also be considered.

    Main Duties of the Job

    This job is ideal for those looking to gain more experience in Emergency Medicine or considering a career in the specialty. The role will provide further experience in a busy department with a varied and challenging case mix, suitable for those contemplating a future in Emergency Medicine. The successful applicant will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients, benefiting from clinical leadership and participating in the FY2 rota, with encouragement for research interests and audit projects.

    Person Specification

    Essential Criteria

    • Applicants must have full GMC membership

    Desirable Criteria

    • To have up-to-date ALS
    • Experience in trauma and orthopaedics
    • Demonstrates proposed special interests that can benefit the department and NHS

    Essential

    • The applicant must demonstrate understanding and experience of GMC's Good Medical Practice principles with at least 4 months of experience in emergency medicine or acute medical ward at FY2 level or above, or training program experience.
