Network Automation Engineer - United Kingdom - Wifinity Group

    Default job background
    Description

    About us :
Wifinity was founded in 2007 to solve a problem—our armed forces were struggling with reliable connectivity. While living in barracks, often in remote locations, ordering a landline and booking in an engineer just wasn't an option.

And that problem isn't exclusive to the military, either. Students living in University accommodation, families visiting holiday resorts, or living in shared accommodation and retirement communities. Conventional home broadband doesn't always work for them. Wifinity is different. We offer the same benefits as traditional broadband, such as super-fast speeds, WiFi, and secure and private networks, but none of the downsides. We even offer Pay As You Go and flexible contracts, so customers only pay for what they need without hefty penalties or long contract terms. We take the complexity out of connectivity. In this role you will be working directly with solution architects to survey sites and formulate appropriate designs, to maintain a design led business approach to maximise new business sales and existing performance improvements. You will have the chance to work on current and new Wifinity sites and contribute to improvement planning. The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Network Engineer with a keen interest in automation platforms to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will be a product owner responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our automation platforms, with a strong foundation in networking and a basic understanding of scripting, particularly in Python.
This role requires a proactive individual who is eager to learn and grow their skills in a fast-paced environment. Key Areas of focus:
You will work with stakeholders at all levels, and should be an excellent communicator.
Your day to day role will consist of the following responsibilities, you may be required to carry out further responsibilities at the company's discretion.
    • Serve as the product owner for automation platforms, overseeing the lifecycle from conception to deployment.
    • Develop and maintain automation scripts in Python to improve network efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
    • Utilize networking skills to ensure seamless integration and operation of automation platforms within the network infrastructure.
    • Demonstrate platform skills by managing and optimizing the performance of various automation tools and technologies.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation processes, platform configurations, and network designs to ensure knowledge transfer and operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities, gather requirements, and implement solutions that enhance network performance and reliability.
    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and advancements in network automation to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholders on automation-related issues and best practices.

    About you:
You will be a detail oriented individual with the ability to finish projects to a very high standard. You are excellent at working with people and always strive to provide a customer driven approach. We are looking for someone that has:

    • Strong documentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical processes, platform configurations, and network designs.
    • Proactive, self-motivated individual with excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong desire to learn new technologies and concepts.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of the organization.

    Your experience & qualifications:

    • Basic understanding of scripting and programming concepts, with a focus on Python. A desire to learn and expand scripting skills is essential.
    • Solid networking skills, including understanding of network protocols, configurations, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Experience with platform management, including the ability to deploy, configure, and maintain automation tools and technologies.
    • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Python programming certification) are preferred but not required.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package which includes an 'Annual Leave Buy & Sell Scheme', in addition to a remote first working environment, allowing our employees more flexibility when it comes to the importance of a healthy work / life balance. Please be aware that the successful applicant to this role will receive an offer which is subject to the satisfactory completion of a basic level DBS check.

At Wifinity we pride ourselves on being an equal opportunities employer, with an inclusive culture who do not discriminate and whose hiring outcomes and commitments are based upon your talent and experience.
