    Description

    BMAC
    is a medium size lighting manufacturer to road and rail transportation. Our products can be found throughout the UK and European transport networks.

    The company's history stretches back almost a century over which it has been a dominant supplier to the public transport manufacturers.


    BMAC is now part of Methode Electronics

    with ambitious plans to grow into more international markets and also develop new products for the next generation of

    EV public transport .

    Now we are looking for a

    Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in electro-mechanical product development.


    This is an active hands-on Mechanical design role within a team to design and support of lighting and lighting related products for road and rail transportation developing new concepts and ideas for customer quotations, and internal product development will be an essential part of the job requiring creativity and ingenuity.


    Requirements:
    n3D modelling & 2D detailing using CAD software CREO, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS or other similar.nDegree in a relevant engineering discipline.

    5 years work experience in Engineering environment.nExperience using GD&T and tolerance studies.nExperience with electromechanical systems and working with, specifying electrical components.nFamiliar with DFMEA analysis and documentation.nBOM maintenance (Bills of material) on business planning software.nMaintenance of Technical documentation and revision control.nPlastic Injection Moldings (component design)nMetal brackets and fixture fabrication.nMicrosoft office tools Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.nDocument control systems and procedures.


    Responsibilities:

    nPrepare concepts and designs for new products.nMaintain existing product designs and documentation when changes are required for corrective actions and product improvements.nDesign products & solutions that will be reliable and meet the required road and rail product standards.nCoordinate with the Engineering Manager on priorities according to project & product requirements.nReview customer standards and implement these in product designs or manufacturing processes.nLiaison with test houses to plan and execute required "Type Testing" of products.nFollow design processes procedures for review and documentation.

    Drawing control, DFMEA, design for manual assembly, design for manufacture.nProvide technical input to sales and customer enquiries.nProvide technical support to quality and production.

    Problem solving and fault finding.nLiaising with Far East design and manufacturing partners.

    BS8888nExperienced at creating & maintaining Bills of materials.nAbility to write Technical & Test ReportsnDocumentation revision control.nConfident following business processes i.e.

    NPI, Engineering Changes.
