    Description

    As part of the hospice's crucial Family Support team, you will be providing a comprehensive psycho-social service to families in complex situations.

    The Family Support team consists of Head of Family Support, Counsellor, Play Therapist, Social Worker and Chaplain.

    Our team of professional counsellors offers support to families from the point of referral to bereavement and beyond, and as a Family Support Bank Counsellor, your support will be tailored to the very specific needs of the individual. You will provide expert counselling services, largely to adults , including regular reviews and there is the potential to be involved in running therapeutic groups for parents and young people at times. We would expect you have a minimum of 2-3 clients a week. Currently services are provided face to face, online and by phone and you will need to be able to locate yourself at our hospice for all counselling work.

    With a recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification and membership with BACP, UKCP or similar, you must have experience of working with adults, loss and bereavement, a good understanding of palliative care and the impact of disability and life limiting diagnosis on a family.

    In addition, the role demands excellent communication skills, adaptability, compassion and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will be required to complete the mandatory staff training including safeguarding and you will required to apply for an Enhanced and Barred DBS Disclosure.
