    Description

    DIRECTOR OF LEARNING CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY

    To contribute to the development of a strong, effective Academy with an emphasis on promoting a culture of educational excellence, within a caring and secure environment enriched with the values of discipline, mutual care and respect which extends beyond the Academy into the wider community.

    Devise and implement a development plan for the Departmental staff with clear annual targets using up to date performance data.

    Demonstrate commitment to professional development of self and others by undertaking and leading professional learning provision.

    Work in partnership with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Local Governing Body, Star Central, staff, students and parents in generating the ethos and values which underpin the Academy enriched by mutual care and respect extending into the local community.

    Promote and deliver the priorities and policies of the Academy by contributing to Academy Improvement and Development Planning, by consistently and persistently implementing agreed policies and initiatives and adhering to the Academy's ethos within and beyond the Academy.

    Support the Academy's home and community liaison work through the appropriate participation in events.

    Line manage other TLR holders within the department and hold overall responsibility for the performance of all staff within the department.

    Uphold Trust Quality Standards across the department.

    Assist colleagues in the planning and delivery of the schemes of work and provide guidance on the choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of the subject, and of different students.

    Guide and support colleagues in the management of students in the classroom in line with the Academy's Behaviour Policy.

    Liaise with the Principal on present and future departmental staffing matters including recruitment, induction, current responsibilities, professional review and development.

    Support the Academy's programmes for New Staff induction, ECT Induction and Initial Teacher Training.

    4 Deliver after-school support and pre-exam intervention sessions as and when required to ensure the highest levels of achievement and attainment.

    Hold whole day intervention sessions in the holidays to support and maximise progress where needed.

    7 Use performance data to inform planning and teaching, including the evaluation of students' progress and setting of appropriate targets for improvement.

    8 Create and maintain an effective partnership with parents to support and improve student and community achievement and personal development.

    Management of Students
    Devise a departmental policy for rewarding achievement in line with the Academy's Rewards Policy.
    Provide careers advice relevant to the department.
    Management of Resources

    Assess needs and priorities in accommodation, advising the Principal on the optimum use of existing rooms as well as future requirements.

    Supervise the departmental area, fabric, facilities and resources.
    Ensure that departmental rooms present stimulating environments which help to influence students' attitudes positively towards the subject.
    Ensure all internal units are stored securely and that students follow exam board guidelines for use of resources.
    Planning and Development

    Plan, implement and review syllabuses, teaching schemes, assessment policies and reporting procedures in accordance with Academy aims, policies and practices.

    Set expectations and targets for staff and students in relation to standards of student achievement and the quality of teaching.

    Keep abreast of current developments in the subject areas and adapt curriculum content and methods of teaching and examining as appropriate.

    Monitoring and Evaluation
    Analyse and interpret relevant national and Academy data to inform policies, practices and teaching methods.

    Monitor teaching standards in the department and use this analysis to identify both effective practice and areas for improvement.

    Ensure students' work is regularly assessed and that homework is in line with Academy policy.
    Maintain effective relationships with other middle and Senior Leaders in the Academy.
    Liaise with other schools, post 18 education providers and local employers where appropriate.
    Communication with Parents and the Wider Community
    Establish a partnership with parents to involve them in their child's learning of the subjects.

    Develop effective links with the wider community, including business and industry, in order to extend the subject and enhance teaching and learning.

    3 Contribute to the wider life of the Trust and the Star community.
    4 Contribute to the wider life of the Academy and its community through out of hours partnership
    5 Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in the
    Records Management
