    Description

    Fitness Writer

    The Independent is looking for a new fitness writer to join its eCommerce team on a six-month fixed term contract. The successful candidate will have previous experience in the fitness space and a genuine passion for all things sport and wellness. They must have a proven track record of writing engaging copy to tight deadlines and have a strong understanding of trends and key product categories. They must also work well within high-pressure environments and be excited about contributing to this growing vertical.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Pitching relevant fitness and wellness content that will resonate with The Independent's audience
    • Writing fitness and wellness news, reviews, evergreens, features and first-person pieces
    • Work with the Audience Team to ensure content is sufficiently optimised for Google and is performing to its potential
    • Shoot video content as required for social media

    Skills and experience:

    • Fitness writing experience
    • Strong SEO awareness
    • Knowledge of social and search trends
    • Familiar using CMS
    • Photoshop skills, preferred
