Senior Project Research Manager - Bristol, United Kingdom - University of Bristol
Description
Applications are invited for the role of Senior Research Project Manager of the UKRI Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) Transforming Net Zero with Ultrawide Bandgap Semiconductor Device Technology (REWIRE).
The role holder will have a pivotal role as Centre Manager of REWIRE and will be responsible for the effective operational management of the IKC and leading on strategic planning.
The Centre Manager has primary responsibility for ensuring that all the necessary support is in place to maintain and expand a programme of research in a complex environment.
REWIRE's aim is to accelerate the UK's ambition for net zero by transforming the next generation of high voltage electronic devices using wide/ultra-wide bandgap compound semiconductors.
These devices are the essential building blocks for ultra-high voltage (UHV) net-zero enabling all-electric trains, ships and heavy goods electric vehicles (EV), charging infrastructure, renewable energy and their High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) grid connections, intelligent power distribution and energy supplies to telecommunication networks and data centres.
Led by Bristol (Academic Director:

They will update stakeholders on project progress on a regular basis through communications planning, dissemination, promotion, and web development and will also co-ordinate and contribute to relevant meetings such as steering groups, programme boards, panels, project reviews, conferences, and workshops, acting as Chair when required.
The Centre Manager will also develop strategic plans, supporting REWIRE's Business Partnership Lead's objectives of developing and sustaining links with industry, identifying new directions or advances in the research area and relevant funding opportunities and will co-ordinate the preparation of applications for further funding.
The candidate will work with the REWIRE team across the three REWIRE university to ensure a high-quality external presence (e.g., web, social media), with consistent branding for REWIRE and its partnerships.
The applicants should be professionally qualified or qualified to degree level or equivalent and have proven experience in managing large research projects and their budgets, preferably including multiple organisations and stakeholders, and a sound understanding of the relevant professional, legal and regulatory requirements.
