    We are seeking ambitious, driven nurses to join us in expanding our children's cancer services as we set out to create a new, world-leading Children's Cancer Centre - a unique resource for children with some of the most complex cancers.


    Fox Ward is a 12 bedded wards in the Blood, Cells and Cancer (BCC) directorate caring for blood disorders, cancers and leukaemia - or immune, metabolic, gastroenterology or rheumatology disorders and those who need a bone marrow or stem cell transplant, Gene therapy, Thymus transplant.

    It is one of the only two paediatric centres in the UK to offer CAR T-cell therapy among other specialist immunotherapy treatments.


    Fox Ward provides a positive nurse led working culture, with safe staffing levels (nursing ward ratios are on average 1 nurse to 2 patients) that enables you to do your job well, supporting your professional & academic development.

    With the support of the nursing infrastructure (which includes a dedicated nursing central venous access team, nursing chemotherapy team and a dedicated nursing educational team) you will be guided throughout.

    o To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic family centered care to the children, young people and families.o Ability to promote family centered care and establish good relationships with children, young people and their families.o To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff following achievement of required competence.

    Academic/Professional qualification/Training
    NMC Registered Nurse (appropriate to clinical speciality)
    Relevant nursing qualification
    Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies

    Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialised transferable skills
    Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing
    Basic knowledge of computer skills
    Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
    Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
    Experience of contributing to an inclusive workplace culture

    Understanding of nursing practice and innovation outside of GOSH
    Knowledge of clinical incidents and complaints and reporting
    Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients
