    Areyou passionate about retail and want to make a real difference in your localcommunity? We have a great opportunity for you to join our small and friendlyteam as Shop Support Manager.

    We need to keep our shops open, if theyre not open, theyre notgenerating the vital income the Hospice needs to provide specialist care weprovide to families.

    Our Shop Support Manager will assist the role of our Retail DevelopmentManager by providing management support for sickness, holidays and vacanciesacross our shops, you will help to ensure we never lose a sale or a donation.

    Yourexperience will mean you can hit the ground running and build goodrelationships across our shops, building excellent relationships within ourretail team to ensure they meet targets, maintain high standards and deliverexcellent customer service.

    Thispost requires flexibility including weekend working. Driving is an essential partof this role.

    Main duties of the job

    Provide support to all ofour shops across the borough. Stepping in to provide holiday and sickness coveras well as day to day support you will help the shop team of staff andvolunteers to achieve sales and Gift Aid targets and maintain excellentmerchandising standards whichever shop you are in.

    You will help to deliverfirst-class customer service, while also complying with Hospice policies andprocedures and security, health and safety standards.

    You will adapt to provideeffective leadership to volunteers, managing and supporting as appropriate toensure they operate as an effective and motivated team.

    About us

    This role will be based at any of our Springhill Hospice Retail shops based around Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton.

    SpringhillHospice provides the following palliative care services to the local adultpopulation who are suffering from the effects of life-limiting and terminalillnesses:

    A 16-bed Inpatientunit providing 24-hour medical and nursing care.

    Hospice atHome Service - supports people whowant to end their days in their own home by providing the support and symptommanagement they need to be able to do so.

    A DayTherapies Centre for up to 16 patients, 4-days-a-week, offeringcomplementary therapies ( reflexology, aromatherapy and massage);creative and beauty therapies, social activities and clinical support.

    CommunityService - provides specialistpalliative care and support to patients and families in their own homes

    A 24-hour PalliativeCare Advice Line for patients, families, carers and health professionals.

    Bereavement Support for relatives following loss.

    CounsellingServices for patients, carers andrelatives, provided by a qualified therapist.

    An EducationUnit - an in-house training facility for hospice staff and local health andsocial care professionals, with the main focus of training being on theSpringhill Palliative Care Education Passport' (SPCEP) which ensures that corepalliative care skills are taught to all grades of staff.

    Job responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    Sales and stock generation

    Achieve and wherever possible exceed sales budgets for the shop/shops being covered, and proactively address any shortfall in sales with support from the Retail Support and Development Lead and Retail Development Manager (RDM).

    Support the shops in delivering the Gift Aid process effectively and efficiently.

    Ensure all aspects of pricing structures, sales and refund processes are adhered to.

    Adhere to stock management procedures.

    Ensure that the stock sorting areas in shops being covered are organised efficiently and safely at all times.

    Accept, sort, price and display stock in accordance with our guidelines, acknowledging receipt and arranging deliveries and collection where necessary.

    Maintain high standards of merchandising throughout the shops being covered.

    Actively support any income generation, fundraising or marketing promotions as directed by the RDM.

    Work with the Marketing and Communications Team as directed by the RDM to raise awareness of the shop and Springhills retail network.

    Security and Health and Safety

    Achieve and maintain a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the shops being covered.

    Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Hospice policies and procedures.

    Carry out necessary security, H&S and audit checks in the shops being covered.

    Ensure that the Retail Operations Guidelines are being followed in the shops.

    Ensure Springhill shop premises and equipment are maintained and secure reporting any concerns to the RDM.

    Be a designated key holder for multiple locations, opening and closing the premises.

    Ensure that all staff and volunteers follow the correct cash handling and stock handling procedures within the shops being covered at all times.

    Team management and customer service

    Proactively drive excellent customer service in the shops being covered.

    Support the recruitment induction and retention of volunteers, providing training, support and management to volunteers.

    Promote and maintain harmonious working relations with colleagues and volunteers.

    Maintain regular communication with the RDM to ensure required cover is provided.

    Administration

    Ensure all retail reporting and administration is completed within Hospice and retail guidelines and timescales.

    Attend and be actively involved in meetings as requested by the RDM.

    Report all issues to the RDM and work together to resolve them.

    General

    Develop a close working relationship with staff and volunteers who work within the Income Generation and Marketing Team, and the wider Hospice Team ensuring that a positive view of the Hospice is promoted at all times.

    Maintain excellent lines of communication internally with all staff and volunteers; and externally with stakeholders and supporters.

    Act as an ambassador for Springhill Hospice.

    Be willing to undertake training as part of your professional development to meet the demands of the role.

    Participate in Hospice education/training programmes including mandatory training.

    To read, understand and comply with all Hospice policies and procedures, applying the principles as appropriate to role.

    To be aware of individual specific responsibilities in respect of the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, in relation to role.

    Undertake any other duties as appropriate to the role.
