    Role description:

    We are actively recruiting for a Technical Director to lead our EICA discipline within our water & wastewater team. You'll play a pivotal role in establishing and consolidating relationships across Arcadis and our client base, taking ownership for the delivery of electrical and ICA engineering, and associated quality, supporting the delivery of projects, or specialised components of projects.

    The role is in our Resilience Business Unit where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, were feeling the effects climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which were seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent.     Role accountabilities:

  • Lead by example to promote continual improvement in SHE performance across the business, including safe by design initiatives and any specific personal targets.
  • Build internal relationships to identify and realise service line delivery efficiency opportunities, ensuring that client expectations and Arcadis commercial objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Provide professional leadership at a EICA discipline level and be the guardian of technical quality for the EICA team.
  • Evaluate technical competence of EICA staff proposed for projects, supporting our people to realise their potential, identifying and providing specific training and mentoring needs.
  • Working closely with the MEICA Discipline Lead, as well as other UK discipline leads, supporting the recruitment and development of the UK and GEC teams, setting objectives and managing performance, to ensure adequate resource capacity and capability to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ensure that complex technical projects are effectively led with good communication and collaboration between Arcadis (UK & GEC) and its partner organisations, proactively leading the resolution of technical issues.
  • Keep up to date with developments in the EICA engineering sector.
  • In conjunction with GEC colleagues, establish and agree key performance targets and financial budgets for the EICA team in order to optimise business performance in line with set objectives.
  • Perform independent technical reviews for complex and major projects that are classified as high risk to the Arcadis business.
  • Encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking amongst team members.
  • Qualifications & Experience:

    Candidates must:

  • Be able to demonstrate the successful technical/design leadership of a small/medium (<20FTE) sized team.
  • Be an experienced electrical or ICA design engineer, with a sound and practicable holistic understanding of delivering EICA engineering solutions in complex multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Be experienced in the design management of the EICA engineering elements of multi-disciplinary projects in the water sector.
  • Be experienced in delivering projects in a Design & Build and client-side environment from feasibility and concept stage through detailed design delivery.
  • Have a sound and practicable understanding of water and wastewater treatment principles, including process design principles.
  • Have a sound and practicable understanding (and ideally expert practitioner experience) of process safety protocols: HAZOP, DSEAR etc.
  • Have experience of and be capable of fulfilling multi-disciplinary technical review and assurance roles.
  • Lead continuous improvement in Safety by Design and CDM compliance.
  • Possess strong stakeholder management skills, e.g. awareness and understanding of other discipline inputs and how this influences EICA solutions and a sound understanding of the principles of sustainable design.
  • Exhibit the leadership qualities and behaviours sought in the Arcadis Global Leadership Model.
  • Have a strong understanding of the principles of commercial management and project delivery.
  • Be focussed on health, safety and all dimensions of people welfare
  • Be capable of building credible peer-to-peer relationships with other senior stakeholders.
  • Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Have achieved Member and Chartered professional status with the IET or equivalent.
