- To be part of the Physiotherapy team serving the Critical Care specialties.
- The post will include rotations within the Critical Care Units and associated wards based at the Glenfield Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary.
- To carry a clinical caseload: working to national and local guidelines and Service priorities with those who may have complex needs including physical, psychological and communication difficulties
- To support the therapy clinical team leader and clinical specialists and operational functions of the team and supervise team members.
- To promote independence and facilitate optimum function, working with patients, families and carers and the multi-disciplinary team to achieve agreed outcomes for patients.
- To increase and consolidate existing clinical knowledge and skills in respiratory assessment and treatment as a physiotherapist.
- Diploma/BSc PT. HCPC Registration
- Clinical Educators course
- Demonstrates effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective team working
- Evidence of multi professional teaching
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Must have recent significant clinical experience at a Band 5
- Demonstrates appropriate use of PT interventions relevant to clinical setting, including use of core skills

Static Band 6 Physiotherapist in Critical Care

If you are passionate, motivated and enthusiastic about critical care and improving patient outcomes then we have a role for you to join our growing static critical care team. This post will cover a wide range of specialist areas, across two sites, enhancing your 4 pillars of clinical practice: Leadership, Research/audit, learning and clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining an established supportive Critical Care Therapy team, rotating across two sites and will have the opportunity to develop skills in complex respiratory management including:
You will work closely with our ICU MDT driving innovation of therapy provision with the wider multi-disciplinary team. Your daily work will also involve supporting the transition of therapy care from Critical Care to the base wards.
You will be working alongside an established team of Physiotherapists to develop your clinical, leadership, teaching and service development skills whilst working within a supportive and motivated department. This includes an Advanced Practitioner with years of knowledge, drive and experience.
You will demonstrate effective communication, prioritisation and organisational skills within a large multidisciplinary team, whilst being responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge or transfer of care.
You will receive regular supervision and appraisal and will actively be involved in service development. There is good funding support for MSc level learning, lung ultrasound and training in tracheostomy decannulation and tube changes.
