    Have you ever thought of a career in neonatal nursing?


    Are you a paediatric nurse, adult nurse or midwife?Or maybe you already have some neonatal nursing experience and want to progress your career? We are looking for ambitious Staff Nurses to join the nursing team on the Neonatal Unit at the Evelina London Children's Hospital.

    We are a large supportive neonatal team who take pride in the high standards of care that we deliver.

    Teamwork between all disciplines is paramount and this is clearly demonstrated in the positive outcomes of the infants that we care for.

    As part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Evelina London is there for children, young people and women from London to South East England and provides specialist care for families around the UK and across the world.

    Every year, the number of children and young people Evelina London cares for, in our hospitals and throughout our local community, continues to grow.

    We support families from pre-conception, before birth, throughout childhood and into adult life.


    Right in the heart of vibrant London, we benefit from excellent transport links, we have staff working here from the local areas, spanning across London, and further afield into the home counties.

    We have fantastic opportunities for Band 5 neonatal nurses who are looking to broaden their clinical experience and develop their careers.

    We are a tertiary referral centre incorporating 20 NICU, 12 HDU and 14 special care cots.

    We provide an unrivalled breadth of experience, caring for babies with surgical, cardiac, neurological, renal and metabolic disorders as well as those born prematurely.


    As specialist staff nurses you will enhance your experience whilst caring for our patient group who require various levels and complexities of care.

    You are able to join one of the specialist interest nursing groups which aid the quality of the service.


    The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planningprogrammes of care, implementation and evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision.


    Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.

    We run our own Qualified in Specialty (QIS) SCBU/HDU and NICU courses and can guarantee you a place within 6-12 months of starting on the unit.

    Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.

    To act as advocate for patients within the area, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.

    To ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.

    Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals.
    Will advise on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness.

    Recognise the significance of observations made, and use them to develop and initiate nursing assessments and devise a plan of care.

    Carry out those activities necessary to conduct a comprehensive assessment of a persons nursing requirements.
    Carry out nursing procedures and treatments, checking on and maintaining the highest possible standards.
    Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ascertain treatments and advise on nursing priorities.

    Take a clear and concise history from patients by assessing their health and well being and complete documentation ensuring that all entries are accurate and legible and that all information systems are maintained.

    Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care
    An understanding of Audit and Research Based Nursing Practice
    Basic Computer Skills including ability to use Microsoft Word and Electronic Patient Records (EPR)
    Knowledge of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
    Knowledge of the individual's responsibility towards health & safety

    Experience of administering intravenous drug therapy

    Previous experience in other nursing fields

    RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register
    Evidence of continuing professional development

    Flexible and positive approach to work
    Able and willing to work flexible shift patterns, internal rotation to day and night duty and unsocial hours, according to service needs
