    Blood Cells and Cancer (BCC) are now recruiting for skilled Band 5 nurses


    We have an exciting opportunity for Experienced Staff Nurses (band 5) to join our teams within Blood Cells and Cancer.

    BCC is a busy Directorate that provides the most cutting edge and innovative haematology/oncology, bone marrow transplant, immunology, Rheumatology, dermatology and infectious disease treatments?

    We care for patients ranging in age from neonates to adolescent.

    Our patients require a varied input of nursing care from both low to high dependency, and you can gain specialised skills throughout your practice.


    We are looking for registered nurses with excellent paediatric clinical skills who are well-motivated, have exceptional communication capabilities, time management skills and a passion to develop their knowledge.


    As a Unit we are committed to your professional development and offer educational opportunities which can be individually structured to include study to degree or Masters Level.

    To provide the highest standard of nursing care for the children, young people and their families at all times.

    To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual children and to supervise other staff in this activity.

    To ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the children, young people and their families.

    To act as an advocate for the child, young person and family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.

    To start planning discharges from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary.
    To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence-based nursing care. This includes completion of the Trusts clinical skills competencies and expanded role responsibilities, following appropriate training.

    Experience of contributing to an inclusive workplace culture

    Academic/Professional Qualification/Training
    NMC Child Registered Nurse
    Relevant nursing qualification
    Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies

    Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialised transferable skills
    Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing
    Basic knowledge of computer skills
    Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
    Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
    Experience of contributing to an inclusive workplace culture

    Understanding of nursing practice and innovation outside of GOSH
    Knowledge of clinical incidents and complaints and reporting
    Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients
