We are seeking talented engineers to join our expanding team, offering a range of roles to match different expertise levels from Hardware Engineer to Lead Hardware Engineer.

    An exciting opportunity is available for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join the PSU Core Delivery Team (CDT) in Edinburgh. This team delivers expert guidance and design services across all project stages, focusing on Power-related matters.

    What will you be doing?

    As an experienced PSU design engineer, your main responsibility is to establish the foundation for the upcoming Power Systems needed in the short and long term. Your expertise in PSU topology analysis, Energy Storage, and Energy Conservation technologies will be crucial for our future success.

    You will also contribute to adhoc power-related tasks on various projects within the PSU CDT, showcasing your comprehensive knowledge of power techniques and problem-solving skills.

    Additionally, this role involves providing oversight for multiple projects, bridging the technical and managerial aspects between Engineering, Project, and PSU CDT Management Teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    You will directly report to a CDT Lead Engineer, overseeing PSU and System Topologies, Power System Analysis, and design partitioning. Your meticulous approach to work is vital, especially when handling urgent tasks.

    • Provide technical and managerial support to various teams
    • Support Power CDT in a range of Power System tests
    • Create and review essential documentation
    • Collaborate with other teams for effective system design
    • Facilitate knowledge sharing within the PSU CDT
    • Offer design and domain expertise to different stakeholders
    • Contribute to process improvement initiatives
    • Participate in knowledge sharing activities

    Skills, Qualifications & Expertise:

    To qualify for this role, you should have prior experience in PSU design, integration, and testing. Preferably, you hold a minimum HND in Engineering or a related field.

    Your familiarity with the following areas is advantageous:

    • ACDC and DCDC power supply design
    • Control and interface circuitry
    • Experience with Mentor Graphics software
    • Proficiency in simulation tools like Simetrix, LT Spice, Matlab
    • Diagnostic skills up to component level
    • Knowledge of electrical power systems and safety standards
    • Experience with Measurement & Instrumentation systems
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, and project management tools
