High Wycombe

Teacher of English plus Head of Learning - High Wycombe, United Kingdom - The Highcrest Academy

    Default job background
    Full time
    Description

Take your career to the next level

As the only all-ability academy in Buckinghamshire, we do whatever it takes to tackle disadvantage and provide an outstanding education to everyone. Our innovative curriculum is as diverse as our student community and is purpose-designed to release the potential of academic high-flyers and those with SEN alike.

But what really sets us apart is our teachers: their passion drives our progress and transforms the way we think and work. You can join them and take your career to the next level.

    Explore the opportunity

You will be joining a strong, friendly teaching department with a wide range of expertise. This would also be the ideal role to further develop your teaching craft and develop your leadership skills. There will be opportunities to teach across KS3, 4 and 5, allowing you to present your enthusiasm for the subject or to develop best practice. English is a leading department at Highcrest; GCSE results are good, and A Level students have progressed to prestigious universities, including Cambridge. Literacy is a whole-school key improvement focus.

In addition, you will join our Inclusion team as Head of Learning to our Year 11 students, line managing an Assistant Head of Learning, as well as a tutor team. As a team, you will ensure all students get the best possible pastoral care throughout their time at Highcrest, sharing responsibility for the learning and personal development of all students. You will also work closely with our Heads of Department, analysing data to ensure all students maximise their potential.

This part of your role includes leading and monitoring a tutor time programme and organising and monitoring Life Lessons, as well as taking a strategic lead to ensure the students display the highest level of attainment, attendance, punctuality and behaviour throughout school.

We would be keen to speak to you as you take your first or further steps into Middle Management.

Discover what we can offer you

Alongside a comprehensive package of benefits, we offer significant investment in your professional development and the possibility of onsite accommodation if you need to relocate. You can also expect facilities that are second to none, including an excellent canteen, gym and coffee shop, and will enjoy a Wellness Day to relax and unwind every year in addition to school holidays. But above all, you will relish the satisfaction of transforming futures and helping our students overcome obstacles to experience life to the full.

If you're ready to join our team, please complete our online application form via the apply button.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Closing date: 24th May 2024.

Please note, we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and may close the advert early should we receive an exceptional candidate, so we recommend applying early.

The Highcrest Academy is fully committed to safeguarding children (polices on web). All members of staff are in a "regulated" role under the Vetting & Barring Scheme and have to be DBS cleared prior to employment.
