Head of Inclusion and Diversity - London, United Kingdom - UK Parliament

    Default job background
    Description

We are looking for candidates that are passionate about improving inclusion and diversity at the House of Lords. This opportunity is hybrid with a mixture of working from home and on the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Parliamentary Estate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands on with Inclusion and Diversity, leading the Inclusion and Diversity team and strategic projects to support the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy. If you have a positive, proactive approach, we would love to hear from you.

    You'll be responsible for

  • Delivering the House of Lords Inclusion & Diversity strategy and Pay Gaps Action Plans
  • Leading and developing the I&D team of three, promoting collaborative working and delivering strategic initiatives and effective services
  • Providing of expert advice based on up-to-date knowledge as our understanding of barriers to inclusion and diversity evolves
  • Representing the I&D team, the House of Lords and parliament at events, within external networks and on committees.

  • A proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in inclusion and diversity, including defining and meeting specific milestones and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with stakeholders, including senior leaders and colleagues from different backgrounds.
  • Demonstrable experience of communicating clearly orally and in writing, identifying key messages for different audiences and demonstrating strong influencing skills.
  • Proven experience of collaborative working, including challenging appropriately when required and being personally accountable for delivery when needed.
  • A qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise gained through relevant work experience.
  • The job description provides full details about the role and what we are looking for.

    What you'll get in return

  • 30 days annual leave (increasing to 35 after one year's service)
  • Generous civil service pension schemes
  • Parliamentary health and wellbeing service
  • Discounts from well-known brands and retailers
  • The opportunity to witness history in the making
  • The House of Lords is the second chamber of the UK Parliament. It is separate to the Civil Service, although our terms and conditions are "broadly in line". We are also independent from and complement the work of the House of Commons to:

  • Make laws
  • Check and challenge the actions of the government through questions and debates
  • Investigate public policy and provide a forum of independent expertise.
  • Please complete your online application by 23:55 on Tuesday 14th May 2024. Interviews are expected to be on Thursday 23rd May 2024.
