    Are you a registered nurse who wants to make a difference within Stroke Care? Do you have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent nursing care? Do you have an interest in looking after stroke patients as part of a team who provide emergency care for patients across the region? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist as a secondment, to join our Stroke team at Royal Derby Hospital.

    Applicants for this role will have a keen interest in caring for acutely unwell patients, combined with an ability to provide care in a compassionate and dignified manner and developing services within stroke.


    You will join an established team of clinicians, therapists and nursing staff who possess both experience and clinical expertise with the Hyper-Acute and Acute Stroke Units which includes clinical assessment and treatment including on site thrombolysis and liaising with other Trusts for thrombectomy.

    We are looking for a forward thinking individual, with strong leadership skills, who wants to make a real difference for patients who have had a stroke and their family as well as developing staff through training and education.

    Supporting and developing the stroke specialist nursing serviceacross the organisation.


    Contribute to the provision of specialist nursing for stroke patients, practicing within the multidisciplinary team, providing nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients with a diagnosis of a stroke or Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) and relatives/carers in collaboration with the CNS team leader and the multi-disciplinary team, in line with local and national targets.


    The role will include assessing acute stroke patients in a variety of settings including ED, other inpatient areas and TIA clinic.

    It will also be expected that the individual will support the multidisciplinary stroke team in facilitating recovery and discharge from the acute setting.

    The individual will also be expected to assist in thrombolysis, educate and supervise staff and support patients and their families with secondary prevention advice and support the completion of SSNAP data.

    An average of 1115 patients are seen in A& Es across our network every day - 3rd largest in the country.

    Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres.
