    Description


    Location: Letchworth
    Job Type: Permanent, full time with 25 days Holiday, Bank holidays
    Start Date: As soon as possible
    Hours: 40-hour week, Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm and also option to finish earlier on a Friday if all hours completed.

    Salary: Depending on experience, between £40,000 - £55,000 a year depending on experience

    About the Business : A sheet metal manufacturer of high quality engineered parts to a variety of industries from pharmaceutical through to automotive who specializes in sheet metal laser cutting, fabrication and welding.

    Duties:

    • Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes
    • Redevelop the current QMS 9001 & OHSMS 45001, ensure the system is robust and supported with regular internal audits
    • Implementing Improvements to production processes that lead to overall increases in product quality
    • Define and develop quality procedures in conjunction with operational staff
    • Ensure documents are controlled and kept up to date
    • Working with production managers to identify solutions to quality issues
    • Use the appropriate problem-solving methodologies to identify root cause and ensure robust preventative measures are implemented
    • Monitor and measure performance with appropriate KPIs and lead continuous improvement projects
    • Focus on reducing the number of non-conformances raised along with scrap rate
    • Provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standard
    • Maintain weekly and monthly status reports
    • Support the inspection team with their regular queries and maintain inspection and quarantine records
    • Degree/ Advanced apprenticeship in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or equivalent job experience
    • Senior quality experience within a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in building and managing Quality Management Systems
    • QMS Auditing experience
    • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant industry compliance standards
    • Able to review and analyse data to drive improvement initiatives
    • Change management experience and knowledge with a focus on chaining culture
    • Experience in being accountable for project delivery, cost and quality
    • Demonstratable experience of managing quality performance and delivering customer improvement plans.
    • Ontime project delivery for key customers and management of customer experience (PPAP, CI, 8D)
    • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
    • Experience in using six sigma and lean manufacturing methodology
    • Willing to travel to local customer sites
    • Welding/Fabrication/sheet metal experience
    • Prior roles as an inspector & quality engineer
    • IOSH Managing Safely trained
