    Withcommunity work spanning three decades Brentford FC Community SportsTrust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for thelocal community. It uses the power of sport to educate motivate andinspire people from all walks of life.

    Working inpartnership with Brentford FC the Trust offers a portfolio ofprogrammes in education health sports participation and communityengagement. The Trust has won the Football League Community Club ofthe Year award four times and now employs more than 100 members ofstaff. The Trust is forecasting further significant expansion overthe next two years following its appointment as a key partner inthe redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park as a sports hub and its moveto new larger purposebuilt premises directly adjacent to the newBrentford FC 17500 capacity stadium near Kew Bridge in2021.

    TheYouth and Employability Department
    TheYouth and Employability department provides informal learning andengagement opportunities for young people to build and developessential life skills to support their transition to adulthoodengagement in their local community and employability skills forthe world of work.

    We believe in highqualityprovision that makes a difference in young peoples lives; we offera variety of personal social and educational opportunities foryoung people to engage in both group and 1:1 sessions. Our workincludes residentials weekly groups short courses/projectsPSHEstyle activities holiday programmes training opportunitiesvolunteering & social action workready programmes andindustry days.

    We work closely with keystakeholders such as schools charities local authorities andnational services to both gain access to young people as well asgive young people different networks opportunities andexperiences.

    Purposeof the role
    The Youth Engagement Workerrole is to create a positive safe educational and memorableexperience for young people aged 1318 years old. Youth Engagementworkers will lead inspire and support young people to developpersonal social and educational skills through creativeactivities.

    Youth Engagement workers willdeliver our youth programmes sessions assemblies and projectswithin the local community and schools. Sessions and projectsthemes include: life skills personal and social development teamwork and leadership employability youth voice & socialaction. Programmes include; weekly evening activities/ groups inschool provision holiday programmes and detached work. YouthEngagement workers will also work alongside other local communitygroups to collaborate for the benefit of the local community andyoung people.

    Youth Engagement workers willneed to be innovative and think outside the box. They will providepastoral care and deliver inclusive curriculum sessions and skilldevelopment activities to groups and individuals. The role issuitable for a dynamic and confident person who has experience ileading motivating and supporting groups of young people tosuccessfully take part in activityprogrammes.

    MainResponsibilities

    Lead inspire and motivateyoung people through positive and creative sessions and activities.

    Supervise and take responsibility for pastoralcare and safety needs of the young people are always met.

    Deliver centrebased community school andoutdoor/adventurous activities and sessions. Involve young peoplein the planning and delivery of activities on offer and ensure theyare innovative and effective.

    Plan design adaptand deliver assigned curriculum sessions which include reflectivelearning facilitating workshops and youthled delivery. Ensuresessions are consistent with the project themes and youth workoutcomes.

    Build positive working relationshipsand support young people to work successfully and impactfully withkey partners including community groups venues and other providers.

    Engage and build positive relationships withyoung people to provide effective support mentoring and coaching ona onetoone and group basis where needed.

    Collaborate with the Coordinators to ensure aunited approach to delivering sessions and supporting the team.

    Use detached and outreach methods to engage newyoung people on to programmes.

    Support youngpeople with challenging behaviour and ensure our code of conduct isupheld.

    Ensure all activities and sessions areadapted to include and meet the needs of all team members.Implementing inclusion support plans where necessary.

    To understand and comply with all policies andprocedures in line with Trust and contractual responsibilitiesincluding the safeguarding of the young people GDPR health andsafety and EDI.

    Support youth volunteers youngleaders and assistant youth workers to work positively with youngpeople and follow Trust policies and procedures.

    Ensure all administration tasks are completedaccurately and within allocated time scales including handlingpersonal data managing expenses and petty cash safeguardingreporting and risk assessments.

    Work closelywith the Manager Coordinators Youth Workers Coaches and communitypartners to support the young people onsessions.

    Attend regular supervision sessionsand compulsory training to enable all duties to be carried outeffectively.

    Work with other BFCCST staff todevelop youth voice youth development programmes and groups andemployability activity across other BFCCSTprojects.

    Any other reasonable duties andresponsibilities considered appropriate by the SeniorManager

    Work flexible hours including regularevenings and weekends whenrequire.

    PersonSpecification

    Essential:


    At least one year experience ofdelivering positive activities with young people (either in avoluntary or paid capacity).

    Youth Work level 2or alternative equivalent

    A Safeguarding andFirst Aid qualification or willingness to completetraining.

    Experience of inspiring and motivatingyoung people from a variety of cultural economic and socialbackgrounds.

    Experience of planning leading andfacilitating both group sessions and 1 to 1 activities.

    Experience of building a positive rapport andempathy with young people and adults.

    Aproactive and adaptable approach to managing challenging behaviourand supporting young people with inclusionneeds.

    Ability to lead and work collaborativelyas part of a team.

    An awareness of currentsocioeconomic issues and trends which may affect young people inthe areas we work in.

    Strong interpersonal& communication skills

    Ability to workin a fast paced and demanding environment responsive to changingsituations.

    Ability to build relationships andwork alongside partners (local and voluntarygroups)

    Knowledge of and a commitment tosafeguarding health and safety equality and diversity and dataprotection in relation to working in the community and youth workenvironment

    A willingness to regularly travelwithin the allocated work areas.

    Alternative professionalqualifications directly related to working with young people andchildren in a formal or nonformalsetting

    Ability to adapt curriculum sessions tosupport young people with additional supportneeds

    A full driving license and access to owncar.

    Previous experience of working with youngpeopleresidentially.
