    Paediatric Lead Nurse in the Emergency Department - Birmingham, United Kingdom - University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

    We are vibrant and energetic team with patient care at the forefront of everything we do.
    A position has become available for a Paediatric Band 7 vacancy within our department.

    We are looking for, highly motivated individuals with a passion to provide excellent patient centred care through effective role modelling in a busy Emergency Department supporting junior staff and providing them with skills they need to deliver the service to the Paediatric Patients attending.

    This post provides the opportunity to learn and develop additional skills alongside the management team and to establish the nursing team so that we can deliver the best care.

    The Emergency Department can be fast paced, you will be required to support staff in areas such as triage and cubicles to enable flow through the department.

    The individual will support new initiatives and continuously striving to achieve an outstanding Emergency department.

    The role will consist of clinical and management time where you will be required to attend meetings review incidents, complaints, audits, review clinical documents/pathways amongst other things.

    As the lead for Paediatrics, you will encourage staff well-being and support colleagues when required.
    The department Provides 24-hour care through a variety of shift patterns.

    The individual will be expected to lead the department well, to be visible and approachable and to ensure that targets are met day to day.

    To address any concerns which arise on shift and to escalate when required to the Paediatric Matron
    The ability to support staff in all areas within or associated with emergency care. To facilitate opportunities for staff to attend specific training to enhance job role and skills.
    *Achieve and maintain competence in mandatory and statutory training associated with the role.
    *Complete documentation of care in line with the Trust Standards for Documentation.
    *The post-holder must act in such a way as to promote a positive image of UHB Foundation Trust at all times.
    *Act first and foremost to care for and safeguard the public, practice in a safe, compassionate, and patient centred manner

    Registered Paediatric Nurse on NMC register

    Health care management / Leadership Qualification

    Professional Portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
    ~*Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience within a complex health care setting or Acute NHS setting working as a deputy Manager Band 6 position including the supervision and education of junior staff/ students .
    ~*Can demonstrate understanding / experience / in practice based supervision / assessment as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council ( NMC ) standards for student supervision and assessment
    ~*Demonstrable current, recent experience of team leadership and management within the healthcare setting.
    ~*Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice
    ~*oTeam building
    ~ oWorkforce planning / management
    ~ oNHS policy and political awareness
    ~ Proven ability to analyse data and identify data trends
    ~*Able to effectively present information to groups /health care professionals.
    ~*Flexible
    ~* Willingness to work core shift patterns for the area Monday to Friday with occasional out of hours /weekend working
    ~ Undertake a range of shift patterns to cover 24/7 period when working as part of a peer group with occasions of out of hours / weekend working
