    Description

    Head of Sales & Business Development

    The successful candidate must possess high level business development and technical expertise from within the EV, street lighting, highways lighting, VMS or highways electrical sectors. The position is working from home, with travel required to clients and sites across the UK and ROI.

    Overview

    Due to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and industry experienced Head of Sales & Business Development. Reporting to the main board of Directors, the main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for managing the development of new business opportunities and partnerships for projects ensuring maximum market exposure, and that clients and partners receive a high-quality service. The successful candidate will also support all major work winning and preconstruction activities, ensuring successful project acquisition and safe operations. This role allows you the opportunity to work with high profile clients, build out the companys customer base and make it your own, as you will be involved in the early development stage of projects both from a sales and engineering perspective. You will target the strategic opportunities in order to deliver medium and long term growth and profitability. Key to the success of this role will be developing, managing and maintaining successful relationships with relevant local authorities and associated partners in the pursuit of additional opportunities.

    The Role

    Develop and implement a comprehensive work winning strategy for projects, including identification of potential clients, market analysis, and competitive positioning

    Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their requirements, and deliver tailored solutions to meet their needs

    Lead the preparation and submission of winning proposals, including technical and commercial aspects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project requirements

    Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential risks in the high voltage sector, thus providing insights for business development strategy

    Oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful project planning, cost estimation, scheduling, and risk assessment

    Foster collaborative relationships with industry stakeholders, to enhance business opportunities and remain informed of industry advancements

    Lead a team of sales and business development professionals, engineers, and support staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of excellence and inclusiveness

    Ensure all work winning and preconstruction activities are carried out in accordance with applicable safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment for employees and contractors

    The Person

    Possess a formal engineering qualification or relevant experience, coupled with a minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in the EV, street lighting, highways lighting, VMS or highways electrical sectors

    Prior experience in leading successful work winning and operations with preconstruction activities is essential

    Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices

    Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective business development strategies, analyse market trends, and identify opportunities for growth

    Proven experience in leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present proposals, negotiate contracts, and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

    Deep commitment to safety in all aspects of work, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and protocols in the industry

    Hold a valid driving license, as the role will require traveling to clients and sites etc
