    Description
    Required to fill this replacement post within the Clinical Oncology Department at St Jamess University Hospital.

    This is a 10 PA appointment for a Clinical Oncology Consultant, with a special interest in Thyroid and Central Nervous System (CNS) cancers.

    The successful applicant should possess FRCR (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.

    Applicants should have established skills in Clinical Oncology. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

    Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

    The successful applicant will be supported in obtaining an ARSAC licence.

    Furthermore, the post holder will also work with the CNS Clinical Oncology team which currently has 4 substantive consultants (Dr Hatfield, Dr Flatley, Professor Short and Dr Murray).

    The post-holder will provide CNS clinical oncology services in both outpatient and ward settings.

    The post-holder will be responsible for planning and supervising radiotherapy as well as prescribing and being responsible for the delivery of systemic therapy.

    2 To link with consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the Leeds Cancer Centre and across the Yorkshire Cancer Network.

    4 To work with colleagues in clinical oncology to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 26) for clinical oncology.

    Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
    Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
    Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Clinical Oncology.
    Specifically, must demonstrate higher training in managing patients with CNS and thyroid cancers. Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
