Role:
Senior Legal CounselSalary: Up to £90,000 + Bonus + Life insurance + 25 days holiday + pensionLocation: Reading - 5 days per weekThe company:MDE are delighted to be working with this long-standing client who are one of the best known and respected energy and construction companies in the UK.
With an international presence, this company have had consistent growth over the past two years and they pride themselves on customer experience and satisfaction.
Due to this sustained growth, MDE are now helping this client find a Senior Legal Counsel to work with their in-house legal team on all legal matters, but primarily working with our clients partners to progress and complete leases for their projects.
Responsibilities:
Providing support to the Head of LegalChairing meetings with the legal teamSupervising and managing specific functions within the UK legal teamProviding legal guidance on various matters including contracts, regulatory compliance, and commercial propertyReviewing, reporting, and negotiating contractsDrafting, reviewing, and negotiating leases with the client's solicitorConducting title reviews and sharing findings internally, along with raising necessary title inquiries with the Landlord's solicitorIdentifying and mitigating legal risksAddressing team inquiries and ensuring adherence to processes and proceduresConducting training sessions and providing support to the legal teamSupporting the development of standard legal documents and templatesCollaborating closely with external solicitors and internal teams to ensure project processes are followed consistently
Skills Required:
Be a fully qualified lawyer authorised to practice in the UK with a Master/Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent and at least 5 years' relevant PQE in commercial law.
Demonstrates high personal integrity and motivationExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong negotiation abilitiesAttentive to detailCollaborative and team-orientedProficient in English communicationExperienced in commercial leasesCapable of effectively managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks under pressure, with the ability to handle conflicting prioritiesProactive, energetic, and tenacious in problem-solvingTakes initiative in task progression, seeking guidance when neededLocation:This role would require you to be on-site 5 days a week during the probation period.
