Consultant in Emergency Medicine - Bangor, United Kingdom - Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
Description
Job Details
The Health Board is looking to appoint a Consultant in Emergency Medicine who is able to contribute directly to the delivery of emergency care as well as supervise junior, SAS grade doctors and nurse practitioners. The Board is committed to developing a Consultant delivered service model which will add quality and safety to the service across North Wales.
The newly appointed Consultant needs to have comprehensive training/skills in the practice of current UK emergency medicine. They would be expected to work on the shop floor, including unsocial hours/weekends, subject to clear and sustainable job planning. The consultant's role is not supervisory or managerial alone and the Board would expect them to have their own demonstrable acute workload as well as supervising juniors towards safer patient care.
The Welsh Consultant Contract is based upon a 7 DCC / 3 SPA split, thus providing more flexibility for developing related roles - such as teaching and research - than some other parts of the UK.
The anticipated clinical practice would conform to current EM curriculum of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) UK. The new Consultant's professional working would similarly conform to the standards expressed by the RCEM regarding personal workload and progression towards a consultant-delivered service
Main duties of the job
