    Specialty Doctor in Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics

    NHS Medical & Dental:

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to join our friendly and innovative Community Paediatric and Neurodisability team.

    Applications are invited from candidates with training and experience in Community Paediatrics, Neurodisability and Neurodevelopmental assessment.

    The post is full time, attracting 10 PAs but applicants wanting to work less than full time are encouraged to apply.

    The post holder will become part of the welcoming and dynamic community paediatric and paediatric neurodisability team delivering out-patient assessment and ongoing care for children, young people and their families in whom there are concerns around development, neurodevelopmental conditions, challenging behaviour, learning, emotional well-being or other vulnerabilities.

    The successful applicant will become part of the Community Paediatric and Neurodisability team. They will undertake neurodevelopmental assessment, autism and ADHD assessment clinics providing ongoing care for children with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
    5 x weekly community neurodevelopmental clinic
    ~5 x weekly autism assessment clinic
    ~ Weekly ADHD assessment clinic

    Contribution to supervision and teaching of trainees and medical students within the department.
    Education and training of colleagues from health and partner agencies at varying levels.
    Liaison with partner agencies including education, social care, and local authority multi-agency support teams.
    Provision of medical advice towards education, health and care planning.
    Telephone advice to other professionals and families.
    Medical input at multi-disciplinary meetings.
    Maintaining own continuing professional development.

    Qualifications & Training
    Clinical training in paediatrics
    DCH, DCCH, MBA or other relevant diplomas
    Minimum 4 years postgraduate training, two of which must have been in paediatrics.
    Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
    Experience of safeguarding children
    Experience in other areas relevant to Community Child Health (e.g.
    General Practice), Paediatric Neurodisability (including assessment and management of children with social communication disorders, and ADHD)
    Thorough understanding of clinical governance and risk
    Education qualification, specific training in education, supervision and/or appraisal
    Experience in teaching/training colleagues from other disciplines/agencies
    Specific management training or experience of leadership and management
    Willingness to lead service developments and quality improvements
    Membership of medical defence organisation
