- Managing the Safety, Security Team
- Direct link between vessel and top level of management.
- Follow up and implementation of Flag and International requirements.
- Monitor legislation to ensure fleet always remains compliant.
- Evaluation of SMS and recommend any changes and updates.
- Coordinate established safety training onboard ships, including travel and reports.
- Monitoring Port State Control performance & trends, taking appropriate action as required.
- Maintaining manuals concerning Navigation, Training and Pollution Prevention etc.
- Assist in Investigation of accidents, incidents and near-misses.
- Extensive knowledge of ship operations
- Thorough knowledge of ISM, ISPS & MLC regulations with previous experience in Safety and Security Management
- Seagoing experience as a Deck Officer
- Excellent management skills, be able to manage a team effectively.
- Dry cargo experience (desirable)
- Effect problem solving and multi-tasking abilities.

ISM Manager (DPA/CSO) – Permanent – IOW – Excellent package
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established shipping based on the Isle of Wight. The fleet is growing and they are looking to expand the technical team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Technical Department, the ideal candidate would be a qualified Navigating Officer at senior level, with suitable sea going experience and at least 3 years onshore experience serving in a similar role in the industry.
Responsibilities Include:
Experience Required:
You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered. The role is office based, so you must be prepared to live on the IOW or travel over to the office daily.
