    About the Role


    Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

    Salary: £47,600- £71,600 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

    Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

    An exciting opportunity has arisen in Group Finance to join a new Finance Controls Centre of Excellence ("CoE") which will support SSE Finance's strategic priority to protect, manage and control our business, delivering excellence in financial controls and risk management. Under the Group's "4 Lines of Defence" approach, the Finance Controls CoE will provide Second Line assurance, SME input and and change management support to SSE's Finance teams.

    The Internal Controls Manager at SSE will report to the Head of Internal Controls driving the maintenance and development of our internal controls over financial reporting framework. Working closely with Finance and IT stakeholders, the role will help to shape SSE's control landscape, ensuring compliance and fostering continuous improvement. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Internal Controls Manager will provide guidance, support and subject-matter-expertise, empowering 1st line teams to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.

    What do I need?


    To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

    Strong knowledge of typical process controls and the supporting documentation.

    A command of GAAP, SOX, and COSO.

    Knowledge of a controls based audit approach.

    Experience of using Controls /GRC tools.

    Proven track record of successful and on-time delivery of controls improvements.

    ACCA, ICAS, or ACA, or an international equivalent. Or Internal Audit, IIA. Ideally 2+ years in PQE in a large organisation or in practice.

    Use of MS365 suite as well as Visio.
