We are looking for an individual to fill this new post within the Paediatric Surgery Department at the Leeds General Infirmary.
The successful applicant will join the paediatric liver service to provide supra-regional HPB cover and will also join other consultants in providing tertiary paediatric surgical services for Leeds and Yorkshire.
LeedsGeneral Infirmary is one of only 3 UK units providing hepatobiliary surgery.The Paediatric Surgical Department is based within a large Teaching Hospital catering fora population of over 1 million people, and up to 3 million people in the wider region.
Wedeliver care for, and training in, a wide range of Paediatric Surgery specialties, includinggeneral surgery of childhood and specialist surgical exposure in upper GI, thoracics, oncology, lower GI, urology and minimally invasive surgery.
We are a designated trauma unit and work alongside colleagues in Liver and Renal Transplantation andin Paediatric Cardiac Surgery.Our regional neonatal unit serves a large population and our throughput acrossall age groups is large as we provide a regional and supraregional service for Yorkshire and Humber and beyond.
There are 12 consultants, 10 Registrars and 9 other Junior Doctors .The successful applicant should possess FRCS Paeds (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK.
Applicants should have established skills in paediatric surgery. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Care of in-patients and acute theatre patients on a 1:9 on call rota
Possible outreach work
3 To work with colleagues in paediatric surgery to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 9). To contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the paediatric surgery department. Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
Should have completed a recognised training programme paediatric surgery.
Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
CCT with subspeciality accreditation in paediatric surgery (or within six months of same).
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in paediatric surgery.
Specifically, must demonstrate higher must demonstrate higher training in HPB paediatric surgery.
Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
