    Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week Location of post: Educational Psychology Service, Civic Centre, Port Talbot, SA13 1PJ We would like to invite qualified Educational Psychologists, as well as Trainee Educational Psychologists (who are due to qualify in September 2024), to join our friendly, lively and innovative team of School Aged and Early Years Educational Psychologists serving Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council (NPTCBC). NPTCBC is a place of diversity, where urban east meets rural west of Wales. Valleys and coast, waterfalls and waves, beauty and grit, all provide an excellent location to both live and work. The Welsh capital city of Cardiff is conveniently close by with great transport links to major sports events, concerts and city centre shopping. London is also readily accessible via road and rail links. Neath Port Talbot Educational Psychology Service is continually rated highly in the annual survey of schools and parents. The innovative and transformative work of the service includes; the development of a Community model of Educational Psychology that has been recognised by both the BPS and DECP, the creation of digital stories as a means to strengthen the voice of the child and the continued development of a well-established network of impactful ELSA's across the county. Our Educational Psychology team are committed to assisting the LA in the achievement of early intervention, increased inclusion and raising educational standards. You will be a passionate supporter of high expectations and achievement for all. The successful candidate will be able to apply psychological knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour to promote the positive development of children, young people, families and organizations. The Educational Psychology Service promotes partnership with others and assists the LA in carrying out its statutory responsibilities to these people. The Service also provides valuable contributions to strategic priorities including; early intervention (preventative), multi-agency, parental support, school improvement and learning community roles. The Educational Psychology Service nurtures the unique skills of all team members, ensuring that you will receive support in pursuing your interests and developing specialist knowledge and skills. The Service provides direct support to a number of schools/children/young people/families through a generic caseload that is, where possible, linked to a school catchment area. Our Service promotes early identification and intervention by delivering consultation at a variety of levels, ensuring that our collaborative approach empowers our learning communities. The provision of an inclusive education which promotes the emotional health and wellbeing of our learners is a key aspect of our work. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work collaboratively with other agencies and partners to promote inclusion, school improvement and develop school capacity to ensure the best outcomes for all. This will include participation in a wider range of work which may include critical incident response, mediation, conciliation and supervision of ELSAs and Educational Psychologists in training. You will have experience of; working and liaising with other agencies and with a diverse range of client groups. applying psychology at a systemic level to support both the whole school and a cluster of schools in supporting them to address common needs. working with school aged children and young people to capture their voice in order to identify their strengths and needs. working with families to support their understanding of their child's development and needs so that they can facilitate positive change. contributing to service evaluation. organising workshops and providing training to others. You will have; Qualified as an Educational Psychologist, or be in the process of completing the doctoral training programme, in order to be eligible for chartered status with the British Psychological Society. Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council as an Educational Psychologist. By joining Neath Port Talbot Educational Psychology Service you will access:
