Job summary
This post is suitable for an experienced Band 5 or Band 6 dietitian looking for further development, or wanting to explore a different experience. You will provide a service to the gastroenterology and endocrinology wards. You will have the opportunity to train up for Parenteral Nutrition and contribute to the Nutrition Team, Critical care complex cover (with competencies and training as required) You will be supported in developing your skills and knowledge with relevant competencies and supervision. We are the first Nutrition & Dietetic Department in London to commence seven day services, and you will be required to work week-ends as part of the department rota. You should have good communication skills, be effective in multidisciplinary team working and be able to deliver both group education and individual interventions. You will be required to undertake teaching/training of other health professionals. You will have the opportunity to be involved in, and in some cases lead on, research, audits and other service development initiatives both within and out-with the dietetic department. You will be involved in student training for your area. The dietetic department and NMUH has a robust CPD programme. In order to support you in this role, you would receive training and supervision tailored to your needs.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive Nutrition and Dietetic Service to the specialist gastroenterology and endocrinology inpatient services at the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. To explore the provision of outpatient clinics for continuation of patient care within workload capacity. To take the lead role for the development and provision of education programmes for patients and staff within and out-with the Trust. To work with the Head of Nutrition & Dietetics, and produce, implement, and update department/relevant policies, guidelines, and procedures. To regularly participate in research and audit within the wider Dietetic Service. To participate and contribute to the Nutrition Team, Critical care complex cover (with training if needed) and provide cover for other services areas as and when required as per Trust bed pressures. To participate in seven-day service on a rota basis. To undertake the planning, organisation, allocation, and training of student training. Multidisciplinary team working, close liaison between acute and community teams, and highly developed skills in communicating with patients, carers, and other service users, is essential. To be responsible for supervision of allocated junior staff. Daily support and regular supervision will be provided by the Head of Nutrition & Dietetics.
